At what point did he stop visiting actual diners, drive-ins and dives and start exclusively showing high end hipster bistros and food trucks?

Did anyone watch that episode where he went to some taco place run by an Asian American dude and he was so unenthusiastic the whole time. He barely smiled, he made no classic Guy comments, and he just said "hmm that's a good burrito" nothing more? It was weird, like a Bizarro Fieri.

>At what point did he stop visiting actual diners, drive-ins and dives and start exclusively showing high end hipster bistros and food trucks?

Anon... those ARE Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
Some time around 2002-04 the first dive bar was gentrified by hipsters in Lansing, Mi. looking for a place that was "real". This process became memetic when coupled with rampant social media use and began to spread. Next hit was Ann Arbor, Mi. to the east and Grand Rapids to the west. The process began to slow in late 2003 when Flint and Saginaw to the north and Detroit to the east proved to be a little too "real" and exploded in 2004 when the original Lansing hipsters graduated MSU with Lib.Arts degrees and moved en masse to Williamsburg, Bkln. NY.

So you see, Anon. These are the D, D, & D of 2015. The Greasy Spoons of yesterday are the cilantro and kale dispensaries of today. There is no more meatloaf and mashed potato with gravy now, only 'my interpretation of the traditional meatloaf with a modern twist'.

Hipsters with money are the easiest market to sell to.
>>

I think they more added fuel to the fire rather than completely jumpstarting it - Williamsburg was already becoming hipstery by the early 2000s.

Nice post though, would read again/10

The easiest market is tiny-dicked rich men by far

He's probably running out of places to visit.

>>7162262
They did a "behind the scenes" special, and apparently they work him like a dog. They visit 3, 4, or even 5 restaurants on their list a day.
Just like porn isn't exciting when you aren't horny, food isn't exciting when you aren't hungry.

Did he ever actually go to a drive in?
>>
>>7162941

This is a good question. Never thought about that.
>>
>>7162941
rarely, but yes

it's always some place that has been there for 100 years and makes standard burgers and he struggles to come up with any great compliments
>>
>>7162369
I want to argue in a last gasp defense of one facet cheap, good, no-nonsense restaurant food, but you're right on a large scale. You need to be near a highway in a small town to reliably see that sort of thing now.

Why do you abbreviate so much? I don't understand the need for it.

stay mad, Athens. you'll never be relevant

Athlets, when will they learn?

I'm watching him right now. I still like they way they make people tell what ingredients they are using instead (99% of the time anyways) instead of "now I poor in grandmas secret special mix beer flour"

Athens vs Lansing sounds about as exciting as Shreveport vs Peoria

Plenty of hipsters have money. Mommy and daddy are loaded, who else do you think pays for all their retro clothes and their hybrids?

I don't even think it was that detroit was too real, I think they just got butthurt about being confused with the gays of ferndale.

Seriously though, you must not come to Detroit, hipsters have taken up a decent string hold from the Cass corridor to the east side around Gratiot. It's mind blowing to me that they glorify living in a place that most life long residents have been trying to come up out of for years.

when you're living off your rich parents you can live even more kingly by moving to low-rents-ville

I wonder what rent is like in Detroit. Hell I doubt they even pay rent, I betting there's so many condemned houses in Detroit that they just squat
>>
>>7164997
Detroit is just like every other city.. it has its super shitty parts where the nigs control and super hipster spots. Look what happened to Brooklyn.
>>
>>7165011
except it has an unproportional amount of nig nog areas. With a lack of industry these day's it's only natural for the city to decay into a general state of ghetto.
