Yesterday:
• breakfast of jam and cream cheese on homemade sourdough; also milk coffee.
• lunch of paprikás krumpli and more homemade sourdough
• dinner of salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette, Brussels sprouts braised in onion-butter with freshly powdered caraway, carrot bisque and sauerkraut with, you guessed it, more homemade sourdough.

Today will be:
• breakfast of jam and cream cheese on toasted homemade sourdough (because homemade bread is not good the day after unless toasted); also milk coffee.
• lunch of roast turkey thigh flavoured with celery seed, black pepper, and dried onion, more toasted homemade sourdough and sides of garlic mash with turkey gravy and buttered parsnips-and-carrots with caraway and dill.
• dinner of idklol

Does anyone else use celery seed extensively in cooking or is it just Central Europe? I live in America, where there are very, very few Central Europeans. It's very difficult to find celery seed in large quantities. Those little McCormick containers are only enough for a single meal.

- Broad bean and new potato soup, bread topped with melted Gruyere
- Orange-thyme roasted chicken over glazed carrots and mixed greens
- Orange, whisky and honey trifle

It was pretty good, enjoying it while it lasted as unfortunately I will now have to spend two weeks with only a microwave and toaster.

Where did you go?

If the guy running the kitchen studied for a number of years in Japan you're usually aces. They don't fuck around. Yet if it's some asshole that thinks he can improvise it then you're not going to get an honest product. Sushi, at least when it's done right, isn't usually something you can learn in a western culinary school.

But what about celery seed?

>>7137731
You have to make a starter first, which can be intimidating for some people. You can look up how to online.
Alternately, you can make a fakemeout sourdough by mixing 150g each flour and water as well as 4-5g each active dry yeast and salt, leaving it out for 14-18 hours with 16 being ideal, fridging it for 14-18 hours, and adding another 150g each flour/water and 4-5g each ADY and salt and leaving it out a final 16 hours then add 160g flour to it or so, knead for 5-10 minutes, form, allow to rise an hour or so and, finally, bake at 220°C/425°F for 40 minutes or so. If your ADY is old, you may have to add another 4-5 of it with that 160g of flour you add just before kneading.

What you can also do is maintain that sourdough by feeding it and stuff rather than baking the whole batch at once. Entirely up to you. Look up online how.

Say I start a fakemeout sourdough at 4pm Sunday, at 8am Monday, it goes in the fridge until Midnight when I take it out and add the second helping, then it stays out until I get home Tuesday (which is typically a little longer than 16 hours, but isn't much a problem) before I add that final 160g of flour, shape, prove/rise and bake. Since it takes me about 3-4 days to go through a loaf, I'll start a new batch Wednesday when I get home and repeat the process, baking a new loaf Friday afternoon/evening.
Pic related is the crumbshot of a loaf of fakemeout sourdough I made recently.

My question about this is why was it heated in the first place? Seems like they should have let the bacon and brioche cool down and then assemble so the mascarpone didnt melt away and such. Just banana slices and bacon between would have been fine too.

I do love mascarpone though.

Trying to cut weight and be reasonably healthy. I actually love eating healthy because I always feel so much better, it's just the alcohol that kills me. Trying to drink only once, MAYBE twice a week. And when I drink I tend to eat a bunch which makes it a very caloric night between copious amounts of booze and drunchie food. Might have a soda tonight, usually try and have maybe 2-3 sodas a week. Other than that, just water.

Never heard of it. Googled, looks good, on my "to try" list.

Anyway, I'll try the butter first. Curious if it'll make it taste better or just be cosmetic.

>Something turning out edible on first try
Definitely rare for me. Besides whats been mentioned I'm also gonna grate the cheese and mix it with the filling (in this attempt I just put it in as one piece thinking it would melt into the filling somehow.. and it didn't), but that it didn't come out an inedible mess and was actually tasty was a nice surprise.

Leftover takeout pizza. It was okay.

What can I say, I've led a sheltered life and am pretty new to this whole cooking thing. Up until a few years ago most of what I ate came in a can or frozen in a box.

Today's Lunch :
-Roast chicken breast with Swiss and fresh spinach on a half of a baguette.
-A banana and a clementine

I'm trying to cut down on my sugar intake so I won't gain much weight during Christmas.

Vegetarian sloppy joes with French fries. It wasn't that good because I was short on Sloppy Joe sauce. I should've not been fat and eaten a single one.

Beans and Rice are supposed to contain all 23 essential Amino Acids. Might want to boil and dice eggs and whatever else you want to go with it.

>can't stop myself from making 2 1/4lb ers
I have to buy 2 lbs of beef for 8 buns, and that's a big portion of my weekly food intake, I have to make burgers 4 times in one week.

No you don't. You can freeze any excess meat and buns and eat them later. You can also use some of the meat (and buns) for purposes other than hamburgers.

Yesterday, I had a bagel thin with jalapeno cream cheese and some coffee, a salad with "Classic Iceberg" bagged salad mix and a pouch of tuna, a footlong turkey sub from Subway because I had nothing else to bring to work, a granny smith apple, a thin slice of swiss cheese and some fiery Doritos locos shells.

Today, I've had a giant black coffee to get me through finals, a sugar-free Redbull and another iceberg salad with a smidgen of blue cheese crumbles and basil tomato dressing, and a rice cake. Gonna make some spicy, gingery salmon with Jasmine rice and broccoli for dinner. Probably going to drink some cake vodka mixed with coconut La Croix after. Idk what else I'll eat. My caloric intake is looking pretty pathetic today.
