Eastern Med and Durkadurkaland/North Africa, not Western Med. Western Med eats lamb, sure, but not a hell of a whole lot. Certainly not anywhere near as much as we eat other meats. My part of the Western Med is just about the only one that eats goat, I think. Unlike others, where roast lamb is the traditional Easter meal, my area eats roast kid. The fact that so many people rave about it is WHY I called it overrated. I've tried dozens and dozens of varieties of fish and salmon, while decent, is just not a top-tier fish in my opinion. Go to high-end restaurants enough and you'll notice that salmon is rarely on the menu as a main course because there are just so many other, more exciting fishes to eat. Smoked salmon is a very common starter but it's very different to cooked salmon.

I have never noticed that. In fact, the last "high end" restaurant I went to had salmon privately flown in from the Copper River in Alaska three times a week. Perhaps on the east coast it is different because Atlantic Salmon is quite a bit inferior to Pacific Salmon.
The only thing I see at high end restaurants more often are Ahi and Swordfish
