What are some GOAT soups for cold winter months?

pic related, garlic soup served in bread

>served in bread
fucking why
>>
I made some regular chicken soup with tons of garlic and vegetables. It came out awesome. And if you're in the mood for a kind of more different soup or meal for the winter try this: http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/african_chicken_peanut_stew/

Bread bowl, George. You'd eat the chili, then you'd eat the bowl. Nothing more satisfying than looking down after lunch and just seeing a table.
>>
>>7118125

because delicious?
>>
I eat a lot of soups and stews in general, but chowder-like cream soups especially in the winter.
>>
>>7118129
I use the name George in a condescending manner also. My girlfriend once took in a stray cat. It was dumb and lazy. I named it George.

Disgusting.

Not true, its a very european thing to do. We do it here in Austria at our winter markets (dont know how to call them right).

Also, while it certainly isnt high class cuisine, its filling and statisfying good traditional fare.

I used to brag about my mother's chicken and dumplings to my new girlfriend. So, in an effort to compete, she tried her hand at making it. It was so terrible, I had tears welling up in my eyes trying to hold back the laughter.

I told her it was fine, smiled and moved my plate into the living room to watch the game.

simple pumpkin soup, with onions, celery, garlic, carrots, teaspoon of chili if you want. You make some stirfry then add the diced pumpkin and then chicken or vegetable stock, making it simmer until the pumpkin is nice and soft.

Bonus points if you fry some sage leaves before everything else to make the oil more savory and save them for decoration later.

does beer soup have alcohol content?
>>
>>7121387
Yeah, the alcohol content gets concentrated during cooking. One portion of the beer soup might have you spinning or walking into walls so eat with caution.
>>
>>7121927
Also known as distilling. This is how spirits are made.

Its pretty cold and shitty here in TX

Just made a broccoli cheddar soup tonight. I got this really good bread from a local place, so i just ended up pretty much eating it as a dip with the bread which was really fucking filling. I had quite a bit left over so i get to test how it is left over tomorrow
>>
>>7123876
I personally like making a big batch of beef soup with potatoes, carrots, celery, sometimes turnips or a bit of beet or something, and lots of cabbage. Started doing it by fucking up a borscht and not including anywhere near enough beet, liked it anyway.

recipe?
>>
>>7123954

I used this
http://www.food.com/recipe/panera-broccoli-cheese-soup-150384

Except i didnt take the onions out to make the roux, i added some garlic, and i used turkey stock instead of chicken.

It turned out pretty good, next time i will probably use a little less cheese though

Been making soups like crazy. It is 21 degrees F and quite snowy, hasn't gotten above freezing since 3 days ago.

Made a Russian potato soup earlier this week and threw together some canned stuff and leftover turkey breast to make some turkey fiesta soup for my lunches next week.

At this rate I'm gonna have to walk to the store to restock my pantry, could be faster than getting the ice off the car.
