So im trying to find a Chinese red dipping sauce for someone, it is used to dip shrimp in but isnt sweet and sour, cocktail sauce, or siracha. It is supposedly a tangy sauce with possibly a ketchup base that is thin and not sweet at all?
Idk dose anyone know what it could possibly be?

it's sweet & sour but it can be made in different ways. you probably think sweet & sour is the gloopy shit they sell at shit-tier chinese places, but it can also be ketchup/vinegar based.

Its basically just the homemade version of sweet and sour sauce with ketchup.. its very common to make it this way at home.. you can make it in different ways and add different things.

Sweet and sour is made if you add enough sugar. Some times ketchup is sweet enough
Cocktail sauce you add more stuff
Sriracha is just you adding more garlic and chili to it.
