What's all the grocery stores in your area /ck/?
Do you like them?
Do you hate them?
What stores you wish would be in your area?
>>
I don't live in a small town, so I have dozens of grocery stores available to me.

Some of them are very good.
>>
Several HEB locations, one Albertson's, couple of Walmarts. That's pretty much it in terms of stores that are close enough to be convenient.

I like HEB.

I don't care much for Albertsons since most everything tends to be more expensive than HEB. I never shop at Walmart because it's always full of ghetto people and trailer trash, has shit quality produce and meat, never has enough registers open and I just don't agree with how Walmart treats their employees.

Wouldn't mind a closer Whole Foods, the closest one to me is like half an hour away. Maybe a Trader Joe's or Sprouts that wasn't 20-30+ minutes away too.
>>
We have an aldi location, I usually just go to that

It's my fave for sure
>>
Pick n Save
Metro Market
Aldi
Sendik's
Sentry
Piggly Wiggly
Woodman
Save a Lot
Leena's
Outpost Natural Food Market
Costco
Sam's Club
Walmart
Walmart Neighborhood Market
Whole Food
Trader Joe
and many local mom and pop stores, ethnic or otherwise
there's probably more chain grocery stores, but I don't remember

out of all of these, i much prefer Woodman. one of the greatest grocery store i've ever been to.
I'm gonna miss it when i move out of state in a few months
>>
Kroger
Meijer
Wal-Mart
Sams-Club
Costco
ALDI
Trader Joes
Whole Foods
Fresh Tyme
Earth Fare
Groceryland

All in the Dayton Ohio metro region

I generally shop at Krogers for the fuel points, Meijers for the fresh meat and seafood and ALDI or TraderJoes for boxed/canned junk... and wine.

I'm 10 mile away from Wegmans. All other grocery stores are obsolete.

Also have:
Safeway
Giant Food
Whole Foods
Walmart
Harris Teeter
Shoppers
ShopRite
Weis Markets
>>
>>7398334
Let me guess, you're from Wisconsin?
We have all that shit in the Milwaukee metro area

and I don't know why people in the ghetto keep complaining about there not being any groceries store
there's a shit ton of groceries store everywhere here in Wisconsin
>>
>>7398376
Oh yeah, also:
Food Lion
Sams
Aldi
BJ's
>>
>>7398268
They are oddly all in a cluster in the same shopping center...

>Provigo Le Marché (slightly fancyish chain)
>SuperC (low priced chain)
>Avril (overpriced bio everything chain)

Then if I bike a slightly different route I have a few independant butchers/fruit shops/micro brewery beer shops that do a few things well.

If I have access to a car I prefer the farmer's markets though.
>>
>>7398386
Cause niggers are lazy
I live in new york and there's tons of small mom and pop stores
and they're too fucking lazy to ride the train to pick up groceries
>>
Kroger, Wal-Mart, small "Oriental Gift Shop" that is about 1/2 to 2/3rds Asian food, but with a good selection of other foods like Mexican, South American, Caribbean. The oriental shop was where I found this one type of Jamaican jerk spice ketchup that is the only ketchup I've ever enjoyed on a hot dog.

I would like a Jungle Jim's International Market, but, that may not count since they only have one location. All kinds of food, including meats most people in the midwest would consider exotic. It's not often in Ohio you find alligator tail in a grocer.
>>
>>7398455
>$2.75 per ride
>mom & pop stores selling rotten produce at ridiculous prices
You really think some black ham planet with beetus and a bad knee and a minimum wage job 3 boroughs away is likely to get on the subway to go shopping at some overpriced neighborhood store?

In this city whole foods actually looks like a good deal
>>
Schnucks
Shop n Save
Walmart
Sams
Aldi
Ruler Foods
Fresh Thyme
Save A Lot

I get the ad flyer for some market in East St. Louis and I feel like I should support smaller businesses but I'm too afraid to go there.
>>
>>7398268

>What's all the grocery stores in your area /ck/?
Publix, Winn Dixie, Albertsons, tons of small ethnic stores, probably national chains like Whole Foods or Fresh Market whatever but I don't bother with them.
>Do you like them?
The Publix closest to me is unusually small and laid out weird and has abysmal parking, so I have to drive 2+ miles to shop at the good one, but it's worth it. I'm white and normal so I obviously don't set foot in places like Winn Dixie or Albertsons but I have to drive past them on the way to work so I know they exist. I like most of the little ethnic stores/delis/butchers around here and stop in for odds and ends a few times a week.
>Do you hate them?
It's Florida, it's not their fault
>What stores you wish would be in your area?
I miss Wegmans the most.

Collingwood, Ontario

Sobeys - Good product selection, but there's always something dingy looking about the place. I think it's the combination of an old crappy floor and shit lighting. I don't really shop there much because it's the furthest store away from me.

Loblaws - Good product selection. Good selection and quality of produce. Best bakery section in town. Best deli counter in town. Best seafood counter. Expensive. Clean and well lit.

Metro - Good product selection, but slightly more limited than Loblaws. Good quality produce, but less product selection than Loblaws. Bakery section not as good as Loblaws, but the pretzel croissants are Godly and addictive. Best meat counter in town. Best selection of yogurt in town (that matters to me, lol). Clean and well lit. The section with produce, take-out food, deli counter, and bakery is very attractively designed. Expensive.

FreshCo - Decent to good quality produce. More limited product selection than Loblaws or Metro, but still manages to have some things the other stores actually don't. Best "International" section in town, with import products from India, England, Italy, Jamaica, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, etc. Less expensive. Slightly dingy looking.

Wal-Mart - Doesn't have a full grocery section, so very limited product selection. Crap to decent produce. Only worth stopping at for the milk, butter, bacon, orange juice, and brick cheese. It's the cheapest place in town for those items. Clean and well lit.

Forgot to mention, I wish Wegmans and Trader Joes even existed in Canada.
>>
>Provigo (big chain, pretty expensive, not a lot of choice for non white people food)
>Small portuguese grocery store (cheap, not a lot of stuff)
>Rachel-Bérry (meme tier organic overpriced stuff)
>Marché Sakaris (asian/greek/portuguese. really cheap and fresh stuff, kind of a mess tho. you can find some really rare asian stuff there too)
>PA nature (organic, small. good when you have to buy just a few items)
>Supermarché PA (medium sized, cheap, very fresh, well organized. can get really really packed if you go during peak hours).

Furthest one from my place is the supermarché PA, ~10mins walking distance

Most of them are really nice. I just wish there was an arabic/north african one too.
>>
aldi, lidl, rewe, penny, edeka, real, asia stores, "delicatess-stores", lots of organic food shops

All in all quite alright, the most important stuff is available at the weekly farmers market or directly from local farms though.
>>

Sounds like you're on the Plateau... You can try Ghanacan in Parc-Ex, near Parc metro. Bit of a detour depending where you are but should be doable.
>>
>>7398543
You should sell this to a clickbait Canadian blog.

I got robbed at gunpoint over some weed in East St. Louis. I also held a job at Dierberg's for two days but quit it for a better job.
>>
Producefag here, I worked at pathmark until A&P ran them out of business. Now I work at Stop&Shop.
We also have Shoprite, Aldi, King Kullen, and a bunch of ghetto places like compare foods and bravo.

Publix: No matter what I want to make, they have it stocked, it's in date and sale supply. 99.9% of a shopping list.
Winn-Dixie: Occasionally for a big get together, I'll go here to get the beef roast, and different variety of rolls, salad blends. I might save 15% of the bill if it's near a holiday and the sale is right.
Aldi: This is my snacky run and holiday specialties. I'll get trail mixes, cracker varieties, inexpensive brie, red cheddar, salami and wine. Stollen, great italian panini bread, german mood stuff like mustard, soup, rye, cookies, chocolate.
Trader Joes: same as above, indulgent snacks and oddities.
Fresh Market: meat sale of the day, great deli sandwiches for a hearty lunch takeout, coffee and dehydrated okra chips. Beverage varieties, interesting chip flavors. Frozen indian food. Zuchhini and peach quick bread loaves. Cheese.
Whole Foods: fresh sausage, beers, breads, tea, cupcakes, occasional hot food (like ethiopian, or good soups), german soft pretzels, prime steaks!
Wal-mart: loss leader produce and bread loaf sales. Dessert "butter" and "pumpkin" bars. Mexican items, mixed nuts/seasonal cracker flavors. Salami assortment presliced is 1/4th the price of elsewhere, so sometimes I buy that and park in the fridge for weeks til I need it in an emergency.

To me? Florida is alright, because Publix is so awesome, but I miss the shopping of northern virigina the most. Had Harris Teeter, Safeway, Shoppers Food,Giant, and others for the rotations.
>>
We have your typical big names:
Walmart, Ralphs, Vons, Haggans,

Then we have your oriental stores:
Seafood City, H-Mart, 99 Ranch

Then the co-ops:
Sprouts, Trader Joes

I've been trying to find a good butcher though. Nobody has the meat selection I want. I was looking to get some lamb yesterday and nobody was carrying. One store actually had lamb chops but it was like a quarter pound, all bone, for ten fucking dollars. I was pretty pissed when I saw that.

Why don't you post about your grocery stores?
>>
Off the top of my head...

King Soopers
Super Target
Sprouts
Safeway
Walmart Neighborhood Market
Whole Foods
Trader Joes
and there's a Costco around a ~15 minute drive away

Where should I be shopping, /ck/? I'm trying to save money but also want the higher quality food. Usually go to King Soopers, although I've been going to Sprouts for a few things and notice their prices are about the same as King Soopers.

Is Costco worth an investment? It's the only store I really can't bike to, so I'd have to drive.
>>
>>7400477
>Is Costco worth an investment? It's the only store I really can't bike to, so I'd have to drive.

I don't think it is. If I didn't have a Costco card through my workplace I wouldn't have one. The only thing I get there regularly is gasoline and if there weren't two of them within a 15 minute drive even that wouldn't be worth it. Just about everything else is only a little more expensive at Walmart.

I do understand that Costco has great prices on wine and spirits but the retards who run this fucking county outlawed alcohol sales at grocery stores way before I was born.
>>
Key food
Shoprite and Waldbaums simultaneously went out of business near me (fucking A&P), so that's pretty much it in terms of chain groceries
>Wikipedia now reads "Waldbaums was..."

Anyway, a few big independent Asian and a couple Russian and Italian supermarkets within fifteen minutes walk or so
>>
>>7400564
Depends how you use it.... We do a run there about once a month and stock up on meats (better prices, we portion and freeze it). Then we might pick up a few things in bulk that are cheaper there. Not usable as a regular grocery (because of the large sizes) but for (re)stocking it's good.

Also good in that sense for non food things (paper and printer's ink).
>>
>>7400477
Absolutely unnecessary unless you share the cost with another person
Im single and theres very few things i can actually buy and finish by myself
>>
Safeway
Fred Meyer
WinCo
Wal*Mart
Costco
Grocery Outlet

Plus asian markets (one Korean, one south-east Asian), Mexican/hispanic markets, a butcher, a farm stand, two German delis, a small Indian market and even a Halal market, all within five-ten minutes from my house.

If I drive another five-ten minutes, there's Albertsons, Top Foods/Haggen, Trader Joe's, more butchers, more farm stands, more ethnic markets, a smokehouse, a cider mill, etc, plus farms.

My area is pretty nice for food.

Okay, was just wondering. Maybe when I move out.

I have a roommate who works there, but I doubt he would let me use his card. He's also an autist and never cooks anything, just eats out. So I'm the only one in the place that buys groceries.

Guess I'll stick to King Soopers
>>
>>7398268
HEB
WalMart
Kmart (lol)
La Michoacana
and I can drive 1 hr. to get to a Sprouts.

HEB is the best option, but wish it were much better. The "bakery" in any of the above is pathetic. All they care about is god damned cake and shitty cookies.

All the midwest basics. Kroger, Marsh, Aldi, IGA, ect.
We also have this place called Luckys which I think is similar to Trader Joes. It's been my go to.

I was about to post my list but that's pretty much the exact same as me. Seattle?

>Is Costco worth an investment? It's the only store I really can't bike to, so I'd have to drive.
It could be worth it to you. They have prime beef, and you can buy whole primal roasts to partition yourself into the freezer. Maybe you would consider your membership paid for itself if you purchased a single TV/laptop or other christmas presents there. They have terrific birthday cakes/desserts for entertaining. I like the jumbo coffee bags, trays of starbucks espresso drinks or other favorite beverages.
As a single person it can be hard to buy your weekly stuff there, because your buns are in dozen sizes, your bread is 3-4x as long, and freezer things are value sizes. But that doesn't mean you don't want bigass peanut butter, use toilet paper and garbage bags in big boxes. I don't mind $20 bag of nuts if it's 5lbs of pecans, for instance. And, though I could buy a giant bag of lettuce or crate of tangerines, the big bag of apples would go bad on me.
Costco shoppers average income is $100k/yr and up. Not sure if you knew that. People with money don't throw it away, shop at several places, and they are smart to that, and have offers that are pretty sweet. Buying in bulk saves money, but not all stores have all the deals all the time. Rotate, and stock up on things you do in fact routinely buy, when they are on sale. At of the end of the year, when you add up your toilet paper at $1/roll or .25/roll, and your cans of tomatoes at 60cents each, and not $1.50. You'll eventually recognize the deals from memory. Takes some time to know the rock bottoms.
>>
>>7400564
>I do understand that Costco has great prices on wine and spirits
In my state, you don't need a membership to buy the spirits. It breaks some kinds of law to restrict it somehow.
>>

Close, but further south. I'm in the Lacey/Oly area.

I live in a largeish city in the uk

Within a 20min walk i have

sainsburys
sainsburys local
tesco express
tesco extra
asda superstore(owned by wallmart)
iceland
aldi
lidl
jack fultons
heron foods
marks and spencers
waitrose
morrisons
>>
There's a decent variety but this place seriously needs a fucking Trader Joe's.
>>
I wish my area had more farmers markets - but there's not much agriculture in a semi-arid region, so when there are farmers markets or food stands, everything they sell is at least 500% as expensive as in brick and mortar stores.

>>7400477
Which part of Colorado? If you're in the Springs, Asia Pacific and the couple of carnicerias on the south end of town are great for certain things, plus there are two good Indian markets on north Academy.

I do most of my grocery shopping at Oakridge (#1 - 11 Mile & Ryan) but get my fruits and meats at Produce Palace (#5 - 12 Mile & Dequindre). There’s also a Meyers nearby (#3 - 12 Mile & Mound) but I never go there, as it's too big with too many people.
>>
Small town Saskatchewan here.

We have three grocery stores. Two are little family ventures, and one is a Co-op grocery. The one family store stays afloat due to low dairy and non perishable pricing. Family store two has lots of local produce and their own bakery, so they rake in the cash like that. For anything else, we go to the Co-op. Big trips for meat and non perishables require going to the city which is two hours away.

Costco, at least in Canada, is fucking bae if you have a family or live with roommates, providing you have a pantry and a chest freezer. Good meat at decent prices in bulk, good assortment of junk foods and drinks in rediculous sizes, lots of electronics and stuff, outdoorsy stuff. Lots of weird foreign ingredients. Their Kirkland bran stuff is pretty affordable and decent to good tier. Also, their little restaurant/burger bar things are so great. $.97 foot long hot dogs that taste like sex, fresh off the grill, with perfect fresh buns, god tier fries, and a shit ton of sauces.
