Jnig was invited to that event in Canada. They paid her entire trip there and her boyfriends way to that convention just for her to up and ditch her scheduled meet and greet session. They even paid her for her appearance. After that I have noticed many cons doing fewer and fewer cosplay guests and many of them are not even invited any more. They don't get a good audience to be there and often slow down the traffic in vender halls. I can see why cons are slowly stopping the cosplay guests and focusing on the actors and such. But it is SO obvious when they are Tits McGee in the 2nd of their 6 total cosplays which are ALL sexy.
If you want to highlight cosplayers, highlight people who have been doing it for more than 5 years, 10 years preferable, that have displayed having great technical skill.
They also have to gave at least 2 panels, and will be helping judge the construction portion of the cosplay contest.

This is real minor but I don't like how we undervalue a person's ability to emulate all the other details of a character. Yes physical appearance and costume quality matters but what about the cosplayer who's learned to properly pose, do the facial expressions and copy the gestures and even voice of the character?
There's an inherent theatrical element in cosplay but its being widely ignored I get it, people want to look pretty/flattering and your average cosplayer stopped in the hallway is only interested in not looking like shit. It's just that when you see the more serious cosplayers (or at least those that book multiple photoshoots) you see the same tired glamor shoots over and over again.

Deadpools are the worst. I I'm a man so I don't give a fuck about Feminism or anything but I think it's odd that there's something of a correlation between sexual complaints at cons and Deadpool cosplayers.
Side note, I have a friend cosplaying an admittedly creative rendition of Deadpool, and his girlfriend is going as Harley. Then there's their Undertale cosplays... I love them but they're going to be "that couple."
Cosplayer that have a lot of props or large props and expect everyone to cater around them when the clog up a hallway.
It's cool if you want to do a cosplay like that but be considerate of your surroundings and realize that not everywhere is a good place to stop and set up shop for taking a picture.

Really I blame photographers who just shoot static shots. Obviously if you just do hallway shots then you're forgiven. Yeah I'm with you on this. I watch quite a lot of CMVs and I like to try to get a feel for the con and see some cool costumes. But there are so many videographers that just pull the same 5 cosplayers to some quiet corner away from the con and film glamour shots panning around them in slow-mo. It gets boring and it doesn't feel like a con video to me. There is no life or emotion to it.
And yeah it's always obvious which photographers don't do research on the character of their client or have any interest telling a story. But hey, people shoot what they want to shoot. I guess it's in our right not to like the product. But it does always seem super dull to me.

I think one of the issues with love live is that some of the characters are super popular, and then a couple are not popular at all. This makes it hard to find full groups because most people are set on cosplaying their favorite, which usually happens to be the same 3-4 girls.

Don't expect Love Live to die out anytime soon. It's popularity has most likely peaked in Japan at this point, as the original group/series is being retired in favor of a new series about a new group which is largely the same series but in a different setting. We'll see if lightning can strike twice.

Larger people can wear spandex if they know how to hold their body with the proper type of shape wear. But when I say larger I'm meaning someone who's chunky not someone who's carrying a sack of potatoes in their gut. I do agree tho, they are more often then not, rude to other cosplayers that spend just as much time and money on their cosplay as the mandos and troopers. But that goes with a lot of people who are in groups like the avenger groups, 501, DC, ghost busters. They just have an air about them. They also have a lot of drama over costuming and accuracy with one another. Of course there's people who are pleasant to be around and great people who have a genuine passion for the franchise. But those are not the people you encounter often at conventions. Those are usually the people who do the charity work.
The problem with having a lot of them is what most of this thread as said. It's over done and boring. When you see a good one you are simply not interested in it because you have seen about 50 already walking around and are always annoyed with it.
