I'm really hoping I can get Nobou Uematsu to sign my violin case and get a picture with him. Holy shit that would be a bucket list dream come true. Dude got me into music.
For plans outside of meeting Uematsu, thinking of hitting up a few Japanese culture and travel related panels and hopefully build a network from the panel hosts to help me travel to Japan, get their tips and advice and all that fun ass shit.
Other than that just gonna be in the game room learning Street Fighter V and trolling Arc System and Persona weebs scrubs in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.
Might cosplay as Garterbelt from Panty and Stocking Saturday night. Dunno yet. Possible Coach from Left 4 Dead 2 if I can find the shirt that goes with my cosplay.

Last year our snacks did really well because ours was the cheapest priced selection, and we had a pretty good variety too. The convention center itself has food. I believe the main concession stand is in the back of the vendor's room. Not so sure about the rest of the hotel. If memory serves then there's some stuff in the hotel lobby (noodles/soup and a pop-up sandwich table), but I recall that the place keeps really weird hours. In the past if you were staying in the Sheraton the con offered a special lounge with snacks for people. Not sure if it'll be there this year or not, but it's been a nice pick-me-up in previous years.
Panera and Applebee's are within walking distance (though depending on your stamina it can be a decent walk). There's also a bus that can take you to places like Denny's Winstead's, and surely other locations. Metcalf (the main street near the con) has a lot of food options.

You seem to not understand how the lolita collective operates.
They take stock from indie brands, and sell it at whatever price the indie brand marks it. When the items sell, the indie brands get the money minus a very small percentage. So no, it's not really "marked up", unless an indie brand adds a little to the price to cover the service fee.
For Japanese brand items, they buy a lot of the items wholesale, I believe.
As for the "marked up taobao", I'm pretty sure some of the indie brands in china work with the collective directly. The mark up would cover the service fee and import fees.
As for why they charge a service fee, they have to cover the price of the booth and the travel. From what I know from friends who sell through the collective, it's a really, really good deal.

I went to my first con this year and probably my last. This is kinda gay. All the panels are mostly boring and ill prepped. Hell even the people have a hard concept of one line and not to cut in line. If this is normal, id hate to see/be at a bigger con. Plus, even if you try talking to some of the girls, they all get weirded out and flustered. Im not even but a 7/10.
