I'm not ugly at all but I am NOT very photogenic. I've been told this by several photographers who weren't just amateurs TOO. So I have my photos corrected to more closely approximate how I really do look. I've learned some tricks for that but otherwise I agree, touching up blemishes, correcting stray hairs, sHadows, light levels, a peeking bra strap, etc or something otherwise minor isn't the same as trying to fool anyone. Most of the time I WANT to look better in real life when I meet someone. And as for 'modeling', too much retouch is the fastest way to get the door closed once they see you in real life because if your photos don't match your real looks without a shit-ton of retouch, it's not what they were looking for and its a lot of extra work.

I'm used to it from school uniforms, but arms/ torsos tend to get colder than legs since they're closer to vital organs and my legs don't feel cold in cool weather. Plus long sleeves can protect you from the sun and keep you cooler in summer. Sometimes you just want to throw a cardigan over too.
