Taobaoring is a lot worse. I want to get three things, including boot commissions. They closed my ticket twice, (after waiting since November the 11 for a reply and asking them twice if they need more information/anything else until they replied on early December,) and the second time after asking about finalizing the boots commission. They told me today that they need 'more images because the ones I gave them are not clear.'
What I don't understand is why not tell me what images I need then or tell me in advance? Why close my ticket twice and tell me that everything is going good then when I ask for the link to the item in question so I can buy it tell me that they didn't provide a link yet because of bad images? I sent them 20 images in total with front and back.
I wish I knew Chinese so I don't use SS.

I think by a lot of people's standards this is a pretty small order but oh well! For all of the straps I for 2-3 of each character because they claim to all have minor defects in various ways, so I was worried if I only ordered 1 I'd risk getting an awful one. It depends on the shop, really. For most shops you pay the preorder price first, then the listing for the remainder payment will be up after a while. From my experience most shops don't contact me about it and I have to constantly check the shops myself. I'm not sure how SSes do it with so many orders to keep track of, maybe they tell the shops to notify them.
How do I know whether to choose an SS or a FS?

Another itabag anon here. I ordered a bunch of plastic charms from a seller who claimed they all had minor defects and got about five of each and they all looked perfect along with two small charm plushies that said the same thing.
I'm starting to think that 'minor defects' is code for something but I haven't figured out what because I got mine for dirt cheap and they all looked fine.

"minor defects" usually means factory reject, which could be really small things like a color that doesn't match the sample, lines of the wrong thickness, and so on.

it boils down to how simple your order is. if there are preorders you can manage that yourself, you just have to check in with the shop periodically like the above anon mentioned, but if there's anything custom it may be better to go with an SS unless you have a fairly good grasp of chinese.
if you're just wanting to pick up an order of a bunch of items you can safely assume are all in stock, you're probably fine using the forwarding service. that being said, if anything goes wrong--like a seller is out of stock of something and just doesn't ship it, or neglects to ship something in a timely manner--it's up to you to message the forwarder to see what's up and/or to contact the shop to have them correct the issue. FS's also may not be able to check or photograph items for you like SS's will, if you're concerned about getting the right color/size/what have you.

with an FS you're basically paying item price + domestic shipping + warehouse rental (if things take more than 20 days or however long to arrive) + international shipping. with an SS you'll be paying an additional commission fee, usually based on the total of your order.
if you're making a small-ish order, the difference between them won't be huge, probably, unless you catch a forwarder when they're doing a big discount period on their shipping (which only applies to EMS/DHL anyway; SAL is only offered by SS's).
if it's your very first order, I'd recommend just using an SS. as someone who's used both and used the forwarding service for my most recent order, if things go to shit, things will go to SHIT very fast unless you're on top of your aliwangwang game.

Starting off with Lucky God.
This cosplay generally has a lot of pieces. At first glance it really confused me. Had to look at the store picture to figure out where everything went. To start off with, this cosplay is pretty impossible to put on by yourself. I think it's because it's preset sizing, but I can't even zip up the skirt all the way because it's so form fitting.
Anyways, the rope bow is actually pretty uncomfortable? It's real rope and I'm pretty sure it has wire in it to shape it. So it digs into your skin.
The skirt is attached to the midsection and the midsection has some boning in it from what I can tell but since I can't zip it all the way (zipper is seriously a pain in the butt. Just gets stuck but I fit in it even if it did zip) I can't figure out how well it holds up. The orange lotus part and yellow petals (?) are connected by elastic and also a hook and eye. So you have the choice of tying it or hooking it.
The white top is an easy slip on with a zipper on the side and the orange top that goes over it is closed by hook and eye as well, so that's the easiest to put on. The orange part of the sleeves are velcroed and the white flowy part is pretty much elastic holes. Still have not figured out what direction I should be putting them on.
The hat (not pictured), is my biggest gripe. It technically could fit over the ponytail, but the biggest problem I've faced is actually hooking it in the right place onto the wig. The accessory that was supposed to go on it came with an alligator clip on the back of it (not a smart choice?) so I might replace it with a pin.
Shoes fit just fine. Went a size over since my feet tend to be wide and it's not as big as I thought it'd be. Also not as decorated as it looked in the picture, but it'll do.
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it. One of the first times I bought a pre-made cosplay off taobao and fits rather well. Only things I dislike would have to be the hat and the rope bow.

The Cardcaptor Sakura bag is actually pretty decent quality.The prints are really clean and nice, it's unexpectedly big. The fabric's also a really nice choice but I wouldn't be able to tell you for the life of me what it was made out of.
The side pockets are even big enough to probably fit a decent sized water bottle in it.
A bad note would be that when I opened up the box, I could clearly smell something coming from the bag. Nothing rotten but almost like if you had leather in an enclosed place for too long.
So review for this is a 5/5 despite the really bad leather smell. If anyone wants to know anything else about it, just tell me what you want to know!

The zipper doesn't work very well because invisible zippers and bulky skirts aren't very compatible. If you can sew well I'd suggest replacing it. Or if you stretch out the elastic on the back, just cut it out with a seam ripper. It'll make your life easier. Outfit looks good on you! I roped my friends into lucky gods and we had a lot of fun in these.

Took three photos in three different sort of lighting. It goes from outside, inside (with flash), inside (no flash).
The reason I chose this wig is mostly because in the stock photo, it looked like it wasn't TOO orange and I was pretty much right, as you can see in the no flash inside picture. Though, it's clear it's an orange color from the other pics.
The wig itself is pretty thick like most Lucaille wigs but the ponytail is definitely a bit lackluster. Thinner than expected, but it's not too noticeable. It's a fairly soft wig too~

So I bought it with the sailor uniform. I will say that the skirt runs small but I mean, it technically fits me. So the sizes were right, but I think I'll listen by going a size higher.
But the coat is really comfortable. It keeps decently warm and but I haven't tried to wear it outside. It's really nice quality and the hood is huge. I'm not wearing the puffs though because one of the pins on them broke. I'm pretty sure it was rusted, but it's an easy fix.

So I ordered stuff using taobao's forwarding service, problem is a I think they sent my package via the wrong shipping method? I paid 420 yuan for EMS I thought, but it gives me a tracking number beginning with LP and another "logistics single number" that's just 9 digits...neither of these are EMS tracking numbers, right? Put the waybill number into a dhl tracking site. It's the one that starts with 980 083, not any LP ones. That's what I've done for all of my orders. I thought it was EMS my first order, but if you're in the USA they actually send it DHL. At least all five or six of mine have been. Also, use a tracking site (trackingex has it fastest) because they never update the one on taobao until like two weeks after you've already gotten your package.
As for the wait time: it's the holiday season. I'm amazed my latest one is coming in maybe a day early, but delays are the norm.
