Requesting some cute bathrooms?
>>
>>8680437
That polka dot towel really ruins it the nice setup the person made.
>>
>>8680373
Its a magnet backed frame. You attach magnets to the back of the cosmetics to hang them up & keep them within easy reach without cluttering the vanity.
>>
>>8680473
I know but I really hate that idea. Seems so lifehacky/pintresty and doesn't really look cute...do you really need ALL that makeup out in plain view? Maybe magnetize the makeup you use every day and put that up there with a little magnified mirror. Otherwise it's just like showing off your entire makeup collection.
>>
>>8680480
I think it's really more for convenience then aesthetic. Probably better suited for people who don't have much storage space.
>>
>>8680445
>>8680437
>nice setup
It's just an American bathroom and someone bought a couple of pink items to fill the frame of the picture? It looks like makeup on a pig.
>>
>>8680486
Different anon, but.. So instead.. You take up a large amount of space to put a magnetic board up?
>>
>>8680373

I've usually seen it touted as a space-saving solution, ie- if you have a small vanity, having a magnetic board means you can see all your makeup vertically, instead of having to play tetris stacking them into a drawer each time you want to use one specific item.
>>
>>8680502

Some people have more wall space than horizontal space, yes.
>>

Not currently at home, otherwise I'd send pics
Room is probably a bit shorter than this, there's only about 4 feet between my bed and my wardrobe

I'd like a lighter colored desk, nothing super dark since I want a lighter room. I just need to downsize this huge ass desk

Unless you use decent magnets they'll probably start to fall off pretty soon anyway. Most makeup is heavier than what a fridge magnet is designed to hold.

>>

I feel like bathrooms are really hard, because you're constrained by the fixtures and tiles that are already present (unless you own and want to sink $$$ into a full reno).

Dat feel when you will never have the claw-foot tub of your dreams because all your bathrooms are teeny tiny.

Who are these people who live without shower curtains?!?
>>
>>8680612
Thanks anon! These layouts both look great! I'll hop on there and mess around a little bit
>>
>>8680902
>>8680900
I used to live in a country where tubs were the golden standard and if you had a shower you were either poor or lived in a little cupboard under the stairs. Even the commiest of blocks had big tubs. Usually when you shower you stand in the tub and do it by hand.

Now I moved to N. Europe and every. single. apartment not only lacks tubs, oh no, they haven't got any shower cabins either. Literally the only thing that separates a shower from the rest of the bathroom is a shitty Sochi-tier curtain, which essentially means your whole bathroom gets flooded when you shower and if you don't like it, sux2bu. Some are lucky and get a wall, but most have to make do with a curtain.
>>
>>8680794
At least it seems to be a huge area rug and not the actual carpet. At least it can be switched to something else.
>>
>>8680902
Who uses a shower curtain when you have a freestanding tub?
>>
>>8680885
I feel weird about overly cutesy trash cans in the bathroom - that's for tampons.
>>
>>8681327
wow anon, that must be weird. I am from the US and it's normal to have showers, but I think it's just as normal to have showers with tubs curtained or in the wall so 3 of the sides are wall and not curtain, like pic related. I like when the showerhead is detachable and has a place where it would normally be but you can use it for whatever. I agree it's a pain in the ass to rely on curtains, it seems pretty easy to install a shower 'cabin' as you called it, but maybe the houses are historic or something?
>>
>>8681767
But nobody will suspect you have used tampons and dirty makeup wipes in there if it's so cute!
>>
>>8681654
When you want to take a shower and not a bath
>>
>>8681880
some people put used toilet paper in the bathroom trash
>>
>>8680902
if there's a fancy tub there's usually a walk in shower somewhere else, most of the houses i've lived in are like that. there's another bathroom or bathrooms somewhere that has a shower. so the tub is just for baths.
>>
>>8680284
You're gonna need another support in the middle or that bar is going to break, it's already sagging
>>
>>8681795
Nah, nothing historic in Scandinavia. Most apartments were built in the 50s/70s. For comparison, I used to live in Southeastern Europe, and everyone here thinks we eat dirt and kill each other down there or something, but back home everything was either hundreds of years old or a commieblock and we still managed to install fucking tubs and good central heating, smh

Everybody knows that bathroom garbage cans are where used condoms, used tampons, and other gross shit that you aren't supposed to flush goes.
>>
>>8681933
>>8683235
Do you not line your garbage cans with bags?
>>
>>8683300
I'm sure they do, I just think they didn't get that >>8681880 was sarcastic.

Also idk what you're into or if you're only getting action on period week, but used condoms can't go in the bath trash, they need to go to a trash that's changed more than one week out of the month.
>>
Does anyone know where to buy ornate clothes racks like these? I've only been able to find plain metal ones or wooden ones.
>>
How do you all organize your headbows and jewelry? I've seen cute little clear jewelry display cases on here, but can never seem to find them online
>>
>>8683406
Just paint them
>>
>>8683354
not sure what kind of pigsty you live in but garbages need to be changed more than once a month, no matter what room they happen to be in or the current state of your lady parts. unless you happen to flush your qtips, cotton pads, razors, nail clippings, empty shampoo bottles, makeup wipes, kleenexes, and toilet paper rolls, and thus use the trash exclusively when on your period, there should really be no reason that condoms in the bathroom garbage would ever be an issue
>>
hey does anyone know any tumblrs that post things like this, and general cutesy shit? not necessarily lolita specific, but lolita stuff is good too.
i basically just want blogs that post stupid cute pink decorative shit.
>>
>>8683452
>qtips, cotton pads, razors, nail clippings, empty shampoo bottles, makeup wipes, kleenexes, and toilet paper rolls
none of these things are going to mold or smell
>empty shampoo bottles, toilet paper rolls

>>
>>8683501
btw i just now found out that you can't cearch "lolita" on tumblr without unblocking "adult oriented content"
i clicked on unblock and literally was bombared with pink. jfc tumblr needs to chill with banning so many search terms.

>>8683551
well depending on what you've used those kleenex for...
plus i think the point it, you're gonna end up putting something in your trash that DOES smell, but its surrounded by things that don't so you still need to empty it.
plus if you're someone who keeps up well with cleaning your bathroom, you'll end up with paper towles covered in windex and sanitizing wipes and those can upset allergies, plus some people like to use scented candles and sweet smelling bath salts/melts and those cleaning products will overpower them.

Shh, I only use my bath garbage for tamps and q-tips full of eyeliner. It's quite small (11in) anyways so most of that stuff won't fit. I mostly only keep a bath trash so I don't have to do the walk of shame out to dispose my tamps.
Anything else that's unsanitary goes into the big trash can.
>>
>>8682344
I feel you anon, moved from Eastern to Northern Europe and I didn't realise I'd have to lower my standards. How hard can it be to have proper central heating/actual tiles in a bathroom, ffs

I've never had one, but those beds with storage underneath look pretty neat, you could measure the space under your bed and look for suitable storage. Good for bed linen and off-season clothes,

Personally I have plenty of floor room, but I try to maximize it by putting unnecessary clutter in boxes.

For clothes, anything that can be folded, I fold well and stick on a vertical set of trays hanging in my closet. Like pic related but the full height of the closet.

Well. You can invest in a captain's bed. Or invest in some under the bed storage totes. I'm limited on my storage so I use underbed storage totes to store away a lot of stuff. Quite a few can fit depending on the size of your bed.
>>
>>8685781
you could also get bed risers, if your bedding covers them because they're basically just plastic cones you put the bed feet on. you can get them at walmart i think, or just online.
>>
>30~ days away from closing on a house

What would you do if you could start from nothing, gulls? Is the best way to get cute big furniture to refurb old stuff? 3 br 2.5 bath but ATM I only have neutral ikea furniture and shitty particle board bookshelves (apartment life). I don't even own a kitchen table.
The laundry room currently has pink striped wallpaper that I love though.
>>
>>8686123
i always suggest pinterest, because there's a billion and one tutorials on repainting old furniture. so you could get shit from goodwill and make it match.
there's also a lot of pages on building furniture from pallets
>>
>>8686123
Honestly, if you can get good quality used things, repainting or just restaining is never a bad idea if you have the time.

A friend of my parents does this a lot.. he buys old furniture at auctions for cheap and refinishes it and makes a nice profit.
>>
Does anyone mind sharing or linking their shoe storage? I like keeping my jfash and normal shoes together. I keep boots in my closet on the floor, but most of my shoes are platforms or heels so those over-door pocket things won't work. I'd get a shelf thing, but I'm afraid they'll be too short for my rhs and other bodyline shoes.
>>
>>8686123
Craigslist is also great for this sort of thing if you take the time to repaint and stain to make everything match. I've gotten great deals on there before.
Sometimes you can even get decent furniture for free.
>>
>>8686123
Like other anons have said, buy used furniture and select IKEA pieces and paint/stain it to fit my aesthetic if need be. Consider shopping on Cragislist, at yard sales, and especially at Estate sales and places like Habitat for Humanity.

My husband and I moved recently and I finally had space to make my own little crafting/lolita room. I'm really proud of how the organization turned out.

If it wasn't a rental I'd do away with the boring walls and gross carpet but otherwise I love it. I might get some large wall decals from taobao to at least liven up the walls a bit.

Your room is cute and has a lot of personality, but there are a few things that make it not the best IMO
>the wall color. it looks dusty and faded and not inviting. I'm honestly just a fan of white walls.
>mix-matched furniture colors...wood desk, black table, white shelves. really throws everything off. consider new funiture or painting it or even like throwing a fabric cover over your black table and just stick with white and wood.
>strangley placed posters. I'm not a huge fan of posters unless you have a lot of them, or they match the colors of the surrounding area, or they'll strategically placed. try putting them closer together maybe?
>>
>>8689630
Wow, thanks anon! That helps a lot.

Is that black and white dress considdred lolita? I saw it and i desperately want it but...not sure it could be considered as such.
>>
>>8689788
i am also a stuffed animal hoarder because i have this weird problem with projecting feelings onto inanimate objects and getting way too attached to things and i can never get rid of them. I keep most of them in wicker baskets/cute storage boxes from ikea so that they're out of sight and not getting dusty from just sitting on a shelf, and then the bigger/more sentimental ones live on my bed. easy!

>>

There is a heater under the table and that plus a blanket makes for a really cozy sitting area in the winter.
>>

def eating with a blanket on and a heater under said blanket sounds heavenly.
downside is you prob end up having to wash the poor blanket a lot, so they probably get faded quickly.

Eyyyyyyyyyyyy. I love that plush net sling. That's a great idea. I have way too many sitting on my bed.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a small sewing area? I'm trying to make due with this cubby, but it sucks for big projects. I have to move everything down to the common room in my apartment and steal the tables.

(Also does anyone have pictures of cute fabric storage? I've googled it before and there are some neat looking ideas, but a lot are geared more towards quilting fabric, not multiple yard cuts.)
>>
>tfw you have your own apartment and no idea how to decorate it

I am into lolita and anime so I have a hard time finding a balance of it all and what style I would like my room to be.
>>
>>8689788
Stuffed animals and dolls are fine, it's mostly the giant bear decal that's freaky. Just because it was free doesn't mean you have to keep it. I actually like the mint walls but they're a little overwhelming, maybe paint 1-2 walls cream to break it up a bit. It's not really that cute at all right now, mostly because you have near zero decorations (not counting the toys). Put washi tape along your shelves, get cute hooks and hang up necklaces, get some cheap cute framed art from ikea, anything.

I have a small space and I'm always on the lookout for ideas to maximize it.
Looking at your pic, I have a couple ideas on how to get more out of what you have.

Consider a fold-out table so you can have more of a tabletop to work with. (can't tell if it'll work with your space from the pic)
Since you're limited on tabletop space, try using wall space. They make mountable thread racks and hanging shelves/containers for you to keep notions on. You can also hang shears and scissors up on a hook. The other anon's idea to store fabric in a wall magazine holder is a good idea, too. You could get some wall shelves and keep fabric on it like pic related.

I'll post more pictures from my inspiration folder that will hopefully give you some ideas.

>>
>>8690937
I think if you want to go minimal style. Consider rotating out things you have on display. A friend of mine would rotate them out in specific themes. Like for summer he'd have the beach themes ones, then come fall he'd switch to school uniforms.

That way you avoid over cluttering stuff, and you can try new themes.

I personally just keep them on a regular bookshelf that i also keep trinkets on and share with my bfs music equipment. I like being able to mix color schemes and create interest with things besides books. besides that i'd saw paint your shelves. the only other thing i can think of is that in high school one of my friends kept her books in this shelfl that was more like a collection of cubbies and each cubby had a different color binding for the book. it looked great but idk if you could find a shelf like that

>>
>>8691115
i also keep other stuff on the shelves with my books, but these room threads never have any real inspiration that includes large bookshelves, so i'm just kind of fumbling around with organizing things. right now i try to organize by genre (costuming, science, fiction novels, nonfiction, cookbooks, etc), but i have a LOT of fucking books. i moved cross country a few years ago and realized easily 60-70% of my stuff was boxes of books.

right now most of my books are in a couple of ikea kallax units (the cube ones, a 2x2 and a 2x4) plus a small 2 row bookshelf in my room, but i still have a lot in boxes.

ideally someday i'll devote an entire room in my home to books, but for now inspiring bookshelf pics, please?
