Dream Girlfriend is a phone dress up game that I adore
Since I saw a thread of a similar nature on /cm/, I thought I'd start one here too

The game basically gives you a default girl which you can change the height and skintone of.
The point of it is to get cute outfits to dress her up in. There are several ways to do this
A) You go through the gacha. This is a sort of raffle type feature that always has new outfits added each month
B) You join events. Events are bi-weekly and you collect medals which can be exchanged for new outfits.
C) You use real money and buy the monthly app packs with additional outfits and bonus features. These are entirely optional
You can make your gf study to have new personalities such as sweet, yandere and bossy
You can also make her work for in-game currency.

Seems interesting enough. I'd be more interested in the personalities than the outfits though I think.
Is this like most other phone games where they pretty much do whatever they can to get you to spend money? I've seen a number of cards games like that, though this doesn't look competitive at all.

Nah its not competitive. Unless you're obsessed with having the cutest virtual girl in the planet then it could seem that way
Ofcourse the game creators try to make money somehow but it's never a necessity.
The pic in the OP is my girl and I didn't spend a dime on her.
I also forgot to mention that the girls can move with special motion rare outfits. You can chat with them which is where their personalities come out.
Every event has one motion rare outfit you can win and that's done by just exchanging medals.
You also get free gacha tickets when you gain achievements and you can get motion rare outfits there too.
Just thought there would be people here who play this since /cm/ had a similar type game thread that was fairly popular

So how do chats work? Dialogue trees? And can you swap personalities whenever you qualify stats wise?

Nah no dialogue trees. Sometimes she'll ask you things and you have to give her the right answer
The dialogue can repeat but the creators add new dialogue for each season and for each affection level you reach with her
The affection basically means how much she loves you based on what you say and do to her
For instance she could ask you for a massage and you touch her at her side to do her request which will increase affection
You gain levels by chatting, making her talk to other players' girls, liking people's outfits, giving advice and giving outfit recommendations to other girls
At level 30 you get a second girl that is also default but you have the option to change her height and skintone
You can get a total of 4 girls in the game

Well, here we are. Just started, this is what I've got do far. Not sure if I should pay out for hair or eye changes yet. Is there even an option to change hair color?

You have to use in-game currency to change her hair color. Go to the shop and buy new hair for her if you want
You can also win a new hair in the event btw which is how my girl got hers
