First make an account on bitcointalk.org, look around in the different areas. Make an account on poloniex or yobit, deposit some of your coin there, and trade small amounts of shitcoin. You can see what all the different coins claim to do in the altcoin announcement section on BCT. Most of them don't actually do anything, some have a couple of uses, just pick ones you like, but also make sure they have some volume. It's something that won't affect the price at all and is practically a non-feature. (Adding wallet seed type feature to the main Bitcoin Core implementation, which basically just makes backing up your wallet a safer process since you only have to write down a single "seed" phrase.
