Personally I genuinely like him. Every complaint regarding him can also be applied to Hogan, Rock, Austin or any other top guy. Yeah he rarely loses, but if he did it would totally undermine his status as a top guy. There has to be a guy on the roster that can just instantly elevate someone from mid card to big deal. Cena is that guy. A clean win over him is huge and does wonders for a career when the aftermath is booked right.
Add to that, he's great on the mic and can work the crowd better than anybody else they have (except maybe DB). He's better than he gets credit for in the ring too. He's not amazing or anything, but he can hold his own against more talented opponents.

I can agree that the Japanese guys can get too excessive with their stiff strikes. One that stands out is Ishii's unprotected headbutt spot which would be all right if he did it like once a year, but he does it in virtually every big match. But, more often than not the stiff strikes are to areas like the chest and thighs. Those parts can take a stiffer shot just fine.
