Thread Topic:
Summer's closing in quick, and a lot of larger events are coming up all over. Are you planning to go play in larger games over the summer, or just sticking to your local field?
>>
Holy shit, I was wondering if 4chan had an Airsoft general. Anyway, I was wondering if it's worth trying to build a hybrid DMR/Assault Rifle? Basically I would have to keep the energy under 1,6J to be able to shoot full auto at my local field. I want to get started with around 210 euros for (basically) the gun, magazines and a scope. Buying from Taiwangun.
The reason I want to try this really is that my local field's engagement distances seem to usually be so far I can't even see if my BBs will reach where I'm shooting, probably due to having poor vision. That's why I want to put a magnifying scope on an Assault Rifle. Looking at a Boyi (Dboys?) M16 model BI-5581M and a 3-9x40 scope. I kind of don't want an M4/M16, but that gun seemed reasonably priced and it had a long barrel, which I figure would help accuracy some.
Also, yes I read the newbie guide.
>>
>>1290680
In here summer is not for playing, it's the opposite, best games are on the rest of seasons
>>
Went to the summer opening of my local outdoor field today.
70 people showed up when there's usually 10-25, which made it even more entertaining, though the first two games lasted upto an hour each and then the ref put on time limits for newer ones. It was really entertaining, also got to test my new Krytac CRB and ruined a hi-cap.
>>
>>1290682
Barrel length past 200mm doesn't correlate with accuracy, so it doesn't really matter what length gun you buy. DBoys guns have shit tier internals, so you better be prepared for it. The externals are okay, but definitely not the best. I'd suggest you look into A&K / P&J and Specna Arms / E&C. Lonex guns are also very cheap to upgrade although the initial price is higher. Just swap the motor, install a mosfet and throw in whatever spring you want.
>>
>>1290705
Care to explain why? here in Belgium the summer is fucking great to play airsoft

There organisator had a big fridge with lots of cold water for everyone to drink or even fill their camel packs with (like i did) so we were always hydrated too . swapped my Mich helmet for a cap and comtac like in pic ( wish is in my oppinion the best way to play airsoft )

>>1290827
What's the mimimum engagement distance, what are you doing sidearm wise, and are you the kind of person who enjoys laying in the mud for an hour to shoot once and miss?
>>
>>1290816
Just don't. Sniping requires accuracy. Accuracy requires a lot of time and money. You will be disappointed.

>>1290827
You can do that with an AEG too. If you really want to be sneaky snek with low budget, buy TM MK23 with a suppressor and TM VSR-10.
>>
>>1290833
I'm hoping to get shots off at between 100-175 feet. My side arm will either be my we 1911 or my JG mp5. Defiantly laying concealed for an hour is doable. I guess I'd be more of a scout and could radio in movements of the enemy team.

I personally do due to the way I play and what replicas I carry. Most people I've seen carrying bipods don't use them much (or at all) which leads me to believe the average player has them just for looks.

Airsoft newfag here with a few questions.

How do I know that the battery has reached the lowest safe voltage? Does the gun just shoot way closer than it usually does or it entirely ceases to fire?

Any newfag summer clothes ideas? I've been thinking about about some loose olive/tan shirt and some long sleeve sport crap undearneath it, and some generic tracksuit trousers.

When do I know that a hicap mag spring is wound to its maximum? I've been out shooting just to get a feel for the gun and honestly the amound of BBs per full(?) wound was pretty small. Is it just me or the mags actually work this way?
>>
>>1291214
if the battery is an NI-MH, it slows down when it's low. If it's a LI-PO, then some kind of wizardry I guess.

Wear whatever's comfy. Hit up a local surplus store and you can probably get kitted up for pocket change if that's your thing.

Keep winding the mag till the noise changes.

Jesus. These mags are 2 weeks old and only used them once.
I guess opening and stretching them a bit would help with the problem?

>what bbs are you using?
Right now? Goldenball and G&G which afaik are supposed to be two good brands. I'm testing both separately if you are wondering. Same with the mags which would explain the problem since they are a pair of Dboys mags.
I have a tendency of buying stuff to test it myself and to form my own opinions, thus why I buy different bb brands, mags, replicas, etc.

What crosshair type do you usually use? I was thinking maybe this circle would be best since this isn't a DMR and the circle should encompass the general area my bbs are going to land.
>>
>>1291214
>Any newfag summer clothes ideas?
Just wear whatever is comfy. When the hot weather kicks in here I just wear jeans and a shirt. If you still want to look "camo'd" then wear camo pants and a fitting color shirt. No need to go around wearing a full BDU if you are going to melt.

Yes, I know this, and supposedly a V2 cylinder of the correct type should be able to volume a barrel around 400ish mm.
>>
>>1291260
Actually I'm more concerned about the BBs leaving scars on bare skin more than camouflage. From what I've seen BBs are capable of leaving scars on your hands so I figure arms ain't much different.

Bought two Dboys midcaps for M4-type replicas. They were like 7$ so I didn't really expect top quality.
The problem only happens when using 0.25.
Repica dryfires even though the mags feed to a point since bbs fall when the mags are removed.
The problem is nonexistant when using .23.

I'll try to fix the mags later and see how they behave while playing but all this trouble is enough for me to have a negative opinion about these mags already.

I've been shot countless times and have no scars whatsoever.
If that troubles you so much then it's better to wear a full BDU and call it a day. Just make sure you hydrate yourself and all that noise, I've seen people losing consciousness midgame because they overestimated the heat.
>>
>>1291359
>Do they feed on semi or not.
Nope. I'm testing them on semi since I play 90% of the time that way.
I'll fix the spring, try again and if they don't work properly I'll load them exclusively with .23

I get the joke, but on a more serious note it seems that a bill is apparently going through parliament that would lift the ban on airsoft and certain nerf guns.

Who here runs radios? I have a few bullshit cobra walkies but they have a hard time reaching across some of the larger fields. I'm looking at picking up a couple baofeng UV-5R V2+ radios. These are real radios, not walkie talkies, and require licensing from the fcc to broadcast. These are the radios that can reach a few miles. The question is how well enforced are these channels by the fcc? The fines are tremendous but how many people are actually being caught? I want to use the GMRS bands to communicate.

>>
>>1292268
Baofengs are not capable of using the CB bands. Also there is no such thing as "direct channels" every frequency the baofeng transmits on requires some sort of fcc lisence. It can technically transmit on FRS (walkie talkie) frequencies without license but it is way over the maximum output power limit. Limit is 1/2w output and baofeng uv-5r outputs 1w or 4w depending on setting.

There is no question that operating a HAM radio like the Baofengs without a license is illegal and carries hefty fines. What we need to know is how well enforced those regulations are.

How did your day go friends?

Who here stealsoft?

The best I've managed was a KJW hi-capa and a couple of green gas cans (and a G36 hicap mag, don't have the gun so just chucked it away in the end).

An unattended safe zone can be a real gold mine.

Speaking of, do you guys wear full gear (Gas mask cans, pouches and bags like the real world military) when you gear up for airsoft or is that for military simulators only or something?
>>
>>1293548
That's why I don't leave anything of value unattended. The most I leave in the ready room is $15 of bb's and a $5 speed loader. Go ahead and steal them kid, I can buy more.

>>
>>1293590
I would, but I lack funds and overall gear
>>
>>1293590
Everyone is different. For some people airsoft is 75% dress up and 25% playing. I'm the opposite. I wouldn't show up in shorts and a red hoodie but i'm not going to go buy a military uniform for two reasons.

1. I believe it is disrespectful to actual military members to pretend to be them.

2. Because I think that people start to think that looking good somehow makes them better than everyone else and they start to not call their hits.
>>
>>1293605
If you were in that situation in real life I think it would be a case of either trying or becoming a POW.
>>
>>1293609
>I believe it is disrespectful to actual military members to pretend to be them
But imitation is the highest form of flattery. I personally went to the army here because we have conscription and I can tell no one here gives a fuck. Some people last weekend came in wearing their actual army BDUs they brought with them on leave. The only reason I don't wear full webbing is I'm fat and in bad shape so carrying all the stuff really weighs me down. Plus I can't find some parts of the uniforms I'd like to have on sale within my country and I'm not dedicated enough to go to ebay or something.
>>
>>1293610
Or maybe flanking around as a team and taking them out with as little risk as possible? That way you don't have to sprint towards their field of fire.
>>
>>1293609
>Disrespectful to actual military members

My entire field is filled with marines and air service men and they don't care in the slightest if you wear fatigues

>>
>>1293688

Hey Britain, don't you have some crazy laws about airsoft, like you need licenses to actually own airsoft guns and you have to paint the WHOLE gun red or orange?
>>
>>1293676

>>1293688

You have to go three times in more than two months to buy an all black gun, otherwise you can only buy one that is 50% brightly coloured. Nothing stopping you painting a two tone, or getting someone who has their UKARA to buy your shit for you.

>>1293703
Surplus doesn't usually fall apart in minutes, and six full sets for the price of one is a hell of a difference. Been using my DPM stuff every two weeks for eighteen months, nothing wrong with it.

Definitely the most accurate airsoft gun I've ever fired. All the shots landed right on top of each other even at maximum range. The trigger response was nice as per usual with PTWs, but I've seen better though. Really made me want to buy one in the future when I don't have to spend an entire paycheck to buy one. Apparently even the A&K PTWs can be made decent with surprisingly little work. I wonder how well they'll fare with a DSG at 1,6J.

I'm not entirely sure if I count as a speedsofter. Sure, my kit is light, and my gun spews a lot of BBs. On the other hand, I run 50rnd mags instead of hicaps, so I can't exactly go pull constant wild full auto fire due to having less than two seconds of mag capacity. And I also wear a lot of stuff that from speedsoft point only slow me down.

>>1293523
The thing is, my kit is built for real combat first, and airshit second, even if the likelihood of actually needing that stuff in real life is very low. Every single piece of gear is war-proof, but still the kit is built around efficiency, even if IRL efficiency. I carry a lot of stuff I don't need in airsoft, that would prove useful IRL - an IFAK (granted, not filled yet due to lack of jew gold), tourniquets, a fighting knife, a flashlight, compass, spare batteries, all that.

The thing I said before also applies to real life, not only airshit: Why not take every advantage I can? Especially IRL, where stakes would likely be a bit higher, I would see no reason to handicap myself. And not even that - even if I would be under the protection of the red cross, running a lightweight kit would still have advantages - on marches and other transitions, and in general, increasing the quality of life.

And no, I wouldn't turn that corner, and I neither would in airshit. I would instead look for an alternative solution, that has a smaller chance of getting shot up. If I would have to, say, room clearing, I would do like >>1293534 said and grenade them first.

Exactly, but what I see that I consider speedsoft is those guys who wear speed rigs and sprint around the field like they're an operator version of sonic the hedgehog and shoot everything that moves upon turning a corner. Had this exact thing happen to us when we were in cover and this guy with a generic polarstar m4 went speeding around the corner shooting like a person having a seizure with a trigger finger. It's not really the best feeling when you're trying to play proper and a guy is doing all this unnecessary running around trying to get as many kills as possible without actually completing the objective.

The E can be lightened and if you are playing night games or on relatively dark envirorement it is helpful to have that option.
If you are on a budget you can check aliexpress for (even) cheaper scopes. I think you can buy 3-9x40E in there for 15€ or something. It just takes 20+ days to get to you.
The 40mm is the diameter of the lens and measures the amount of light that comes through it. The more light the better but you can do just fine with a 32mm.

This. I've got 25 euros to spare if I want to buy the cheapest lighted cross scope, or if I just buy the gun and one extra magazine, I've got 60 euros to spend on accessories. So if I just wanted to buy a scope, I could get one of these

Keeping in mind it has to be high enough to clear the front sight when put in place of the carrying handle.

You are on a budget but you won't buy stuff from different sites even if it is cheaper.
60€ in accesories means you can buy a scope, a a reflex sight, a grip+bipod/gripod, a knockoff PEQ and still have money left to buy whatever if willing to use different sites.
>>
>>1295054
Well, if I could get all the accessories from a different site at once, but even then, anything past 25 euros in worth will get stuck in Finnish customs and I'll have to pay them a ridiculous tax to get my stuff.
>>
>>1295061
Scope 15-20ish€ from Ali
Reflex 12ish€ from Ali
Bipod+Grip 19ish€ from TWG
Gripod 5ish€ instead of the bipod+grip combo TWG
PEQ 12ish€ Ali

I just don't understand why is it so important to get everything from a single store/site. You are basically 'handicapping' yourself with that decision.
>>
>>1295070
>I just don't understand why is it so important to get everything from a single store/site. You are basically 'handicapping' yourself with that decision.
Because I'm really bad at waiting for the stuff to arrive.
Plus, I don't really need a PEQ and a Reflex sight nor the bipod/gripod since I don't have the rails to mount them on, unless Aliexpress also sells cheap RIS front grips for M16s.

If you order from a country that belongs to EU, your package won't get stuck in customs. TG and Gunfire aren't the only Airsoft stores in EU. Pic related is ActionShop.cz. You can also cheat the customs. They don't know how much you paid which is why they ask you to produce the receipt. Certain chink stores like AsiaAirsoft and EBairsoft are also very good at making their packages slip through the customs.

For airsoft purposes looks mostly determine whether the scope is good or not. Generic chink 3-9x32 is trash, but King Arms M3 3-9x50 with extended lens hood, realistic markings, docter sight and QD mounts is good.

Right, that's pretty interesting. Would love to order that from Actionshop, but I can't have any extra money until June or July. I'll just have to order my stuff in two batches. I need the gun, mags and scope first so I'm ordering those from Taiwangun and grip and other accessories later.

Since you seem to have money, you should probably buy BTC Spectre for precocking and hair trigger etc. You really don't need to change the entire gearbox though. Buy the gun, test what needs upgrading and then buy the parts. The air seal parts, spring guide and the gearbox shell most likely don't need to be changed. The E&L stock motor is also a very good neodymium one. Test what kind of RPS you're getting with the 12:1 gears and then buy a different motor if you don't like it. If I recall correctly someone claimed it to be 20TPA, which should reach about 35RPS with your setup.

>For airsoft you need a 120$+ scope with a lot of fancy shit that you'll most probably never use.
Yeah, no you really don't.
The first scope I ever bought was a Nightforce after playing with a chink knockoff a friend used. And I regretted doing it for the longest time because at the end of the day what I was doing with my fancy and expensive scope was exactly the same that I was doing with the chink shit. The only difference was that I loved the markings because they were pure sex.

Ive heard that the airseal on stock E&L is pretty poor. The spectre sounds pretty good if it has precock so ill look into that. I wasn't expecting 35rps tho thats pretty solid sounding

Also as it seems ill have to go with the BTC chimera since the spectre isnt out for v3 gearboxrs

Well good job with that reading comprehension Mr. Oblivious.

If something is only good for it's looks, what does it imply?

>So you feel like its fair and fun when you and a gaggle of 7th graders with Combat Machines are up against adults with tactical formations..?
>I suppose you're also Rambo?
Now that's HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH LEVEL!

I don't even know what you are on about now.
>good job with that reading comprehension
What exactly I didn't comprehend, again?

You said that in airsoft something looking good is determinant to how good it is. Untrue (and not only in airsoft).
Then you proceed to say how chink scopes are trash. Untrue as well because there are very solid chink scopes but you are stuck thinking about the 10bucks ones.
After that you bragged about some shitty scope you own as if it was somehow better for airsoft than the average chink shit. To which I replied with my own anecdotal evidence about how it's not necessary to spend much on something that you are not going to truly use to its full extent.

Be an adult and just wait patiently, you'll have that much more fun playing with a properly setup weapon than gimping yourself with shit accessories because muh instant gratification.

Apparently you did not comprehend anything at all and I'm very sad for you since you proably find conversing with other people via internet very hard.

With airsoft the ranges that you will be shooting at other people will not be too long and usually the games are held during the day, so you don't really need the Italian glass or other lowlight / long range shit. There's no recoil in most guns and your gun very likely isn't as accurate as even cheap real fire arms so the scope is very likely to hold zero well enough.

Since the performance doesn't actually really matter at all, what does this leave us to compare the scopes? THE APPEARANCE.
I said generic chink scopes are trash, because they look generic, boring, ordinary and cheap. You don't want to appear cheap, do you? Oh, you don't care, then I guess It's just FINE for you, but don't expect to brag anyone about it and it definitely makes your penis look just as small as it did the day you were born.
Then there's the other choice, a really pimped out expensive scope with all the nice features includuing integrated video recorder, nightvision and penis enlarger and it looks cool as fuck. Does it do it's job better? Yea, probably, maybe, maybe not, but it doesn't really matter one bit for 99% of the cases in airsoft. It still looks fucking sick, gets you all the bitches in the field and makes the other ten Chris Kyles very jealous.

Then you come to preach how your X scope performed just as well as your Y scope, but you still really liked the appearance of the Y scope. Do you know how fucking retarded it sounds when you say something and someone responds with 'No' and continues with the same exact fucking thing you said?

Do you now understand why I JOKINGLY said that generic chink scopes are bad and pimped out scopes are good even though the performance difference is negligible?

And yes, some of the cheapest shit tubes you can find from eBay probably aren't very good scopes, even for airsoft.
