Will anyone want to play with me if i go out and buy a gun? Or is it kind of something you have to have been doing your whole life & you'll be useless unless you know what you're doing? They just opened an airsoft shop near me and the stuff seems cool but the people seem deadly serious about it (& kind of autist)

Just have slightly matching kit. Try and go for a certain look.

I'm sure as you play you'll either see kits or start to think of kits you want to emulate.

That's all there is anon. As far as I know there are no more ruskies using AR varients. The story for these two is that a member of Alfa used it on a range day, but it's a locally produced AR varient that belonged to him. It was a one off. Supposedly some of the M16's and M4's that were captured in the South Ossetia invasion were taken back to the training schools to show Russian soldiers what the US and their allies use. One young soldier is quoted as saying "I would never think about picking up an American weapon after that". This is all third hand though. the OC is on red alliance and it took me forever to find it. You'll have to sauce it yourself.

I know but still its not really as cool to run around with an LMG like that in airsoft. its going to be a glorified house ornament after a few games. trust me

I've only handled the A&K PKM, but I know IRL the 240 is heavier. I borrowed the PKM for a full woodland game day, and I had a great time, so much so that I'm seriously considering purchasing one.
I played on the frontlines with my usual shoot'n'scoot playstyle (though with more suppression), and while I would probably have been less tired had I been using my m4 as my primary the effect on my performance was slight. If you are very weak/out of shape I would not recommend it, but anyone with a reasonable level of fitness should be fine.
>>
>>1098243
The most cancerous part of these kinds of vids are that the people doing this don't think this is bad sportsmanship at all. I've gone to pickup games to find kids with bolt actions, so I swap out my P* for my SVD and have fun countersniping them rather than just blandly lighting them up.
>>
>>1098228
Well it depends really a rpk is way lighter than the pkm and m240b, i recommend wearing light gear ie a backpack with bbs and batteries. Play more overwatch and keep squadmates close.

If you're playing a Milsim game then any machine gun is great. I find the A&K PKM outranges most other guns stock and with its 5k round box mag you'll never run out of ammo. HOWEVER if you treat a GPMG like you would any regular gun (LMGs too for some of them) you're going to kill your back. They are more a deploy and suppress rather than high speed brrrrrt guns. In fact you want your rate of fire to be low enough that you can constantly suppress positions or take out an exposed squad in an instant without wasting 90% of your shots on the first 2 guys you're shooting at. As a result you do need a dedicated support gunner to cover you as you deploy. They're fuckloads of fun and I've taken out multiple squads within 60 seconds before due to bad positioning on their end as well as defensively held down lanes against fire teams trying to directly assault my squads position. Long as you treat it as such you'll go home with an intact back.
>>
>>1098243
From what I heard, they were apparently doing one last game and were trying to get banned for some reason.
Still doesn't excuse them for being absolute shitcunts though.
>>
>>1098530
For the PKM I also have these tips
>DONT SHOULDER THE GUN WHILE STANDING
>Fire from prone with the bipod deployed, kneeling with the box magazine resting on your knee
>If you're fucked and need to GTFO from the hip relying on spraying and praying rambo style. The last technique is the absolute worst possible scenario where you need to move and suppress simultaneously and your squadies can't cover you properly
>Cradling the gun close to your core while footslogging is the most comfortable position and puts the least wear on your arms
>Put the gun down whenever possible to save strength for day/2 day long games
>Carry a full amount of rounds in the drum, 3-5k on you and have your assistant gunner carry more for you. In fact if you have multiple small bags of bbs have everyone carry a bit for you.
>Belt rig, pants, upper body clothing, kneepads and headgear are all I recommend along with some painkillers of your choice in case you're not used to the PKM/overdid it
PKMs will kick your ass but you can be the lord of the battlefield should you respect the PKM and realize its weight.

For PKM guy:

Smersh PKM pouches are the best option for carrying your ammo. Either get a rig proper or just buy the pouches, you can jury right them onto the chest rig of your choice.

Expect to lay on your stomach a lot.
>>
>>1098552
The buttpouch of a SMERSH also has ample room for BB storage though its not as immediately available as the side pouches. I've used that to purely carry bbs before and it works out well due to the fact that reloading is not that often for a 5k magazine

A lot of fields divide teams by camo colour. Having a unified kit on makes it easier to distinguish which side you're on.

Also it's not about being invisible. It's about not being immediately spotted. Someone taking an extra 1/2 second to identify you is 1/2 second you can shoot them.

Lot of pkm fags ITT: I have the echo1 verson, (a&k rebrand, I know) but I have a question. What nozzle and bearings and bushings does it use? I keep seeing places like evike say they're proprietary, yet forums say the nozzle is a V2 and the bearings and whatnot are 8mm? Can anyone shine some light on this? Also, what kind of motor is in the box mag?

To be honest, as an airsofter. Paintball is better in almost every way. It's just way more expensive.

Here in the states, airsoft is starting to die. Most of the old school players are outgrowing it, and the new little kids coming into it don't stick around too long, or don't actually want to get better. Airsoft peaked in 2007, but since video games no longer have guns in them that actually exist, and the kids / video game crowd can't set up their rig to match their favorite modern warfare set up, they just don't see the allure anymore.

both, basically

a lot of paintball fields let airsofters play there

>>
>>1099917
I used to play with friends in the woods near our houses when I was around 14-15 around 8 years ago. Once HS started, we all kinda went different ways. Plus, cops and stuff started getting called and put a stop to us.

Now I play at an actual field.
>>
>>1099921
played paintball before, too, so can confirm

nothing really bad, just welts and a scab or two on where I got hit on bare skin

there are videos out there on airsoft injuries
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwehAHvYoKI
>>
>>1099921
Not me personally, but I've seen teeth get knocked out and some people get bloodied up pretty well in spots where skin is thin. It depends on the range and FPS mostly.

The worst I ever got was in cqb when some kid hit me in the hand with a shotgun. I can't figure out how or why, but it bled a lot. By the time I realized, the gun I was using looked like a murder weapon it had so much blood on it.

Depends what you like. The "g&g combat machine" and the "redstar" Ak's seem to work well before they shit the bed.

The red star Ak's tend to shoot kinda hot out of the box, so you'll be forced to use it outdoor more than likely if you play at an actual field. But they're tanks. I've built up a few custom ones In my day.

My friends just told me that we are going to play our very first airsoft game this weekend.
The thing is none of us except 2 guys have any gear at all. We going to check some airsoft stores to buy stuff and I want to know the most basic stuff that I should get to play.

Replicas
3-4 mags
Chest rig
Sling
Goggles (I have a pair of security goggles used for work I guess that should do the trick?)

That's all I can think about. I wasn't planning on buying fancy clothing since I have a pair of desert boots and I can wear jeans and a t-shirt or something.
>>
>>1100275
Goggles need to be ANSI rated and full seal
I'd say rent guns before buying
>>
>>1100275
Before you go shopping online, look for a local surplus store, or even an actual airsoft shop. If you find nothing,
>Evike
>AirsoftGI
>Amazon

Also, if it's this weekend, you're gonna have to pay out the ass for shipping that will get to you that fast.

I didn't plan on shopping online, mostly because of what you said about the shipping. Chances are I'll buy a second hand replica and get whatever gear I need from a shop. That's why I asked for a list of Airsoft essentials.

>>1100148
My built. Can't say its the best at all because its quite heavy and a shorter foregrip would be nice.
>>
>>1099906
I think the nozzle is slightly longer than a standard v2. By slight, I mean you need calipers to measure it. Hundredths of an inch. The bearings are 8mm. Most guns don't use proprietary parts like that, as it costs them more money to set up the machines to make something new for only one type of gun. Mass production is key.
>>
>>1100407
KJW KP09 (Basic Cz. 75) or P-09 (Cz. 75 Duty), any of KJWs 1911s, KJW Sig P226, Stark Arms/VFC Glock, used KWA USP.
Those are all at or below $130 here in Burgerstan, but they might be different there.

WE makes dirt cheap pistols, but their quality is sub par. Cheap metals that are either brittle or soft, poor fit and finish, and a reputation for things going wrong fast.

I work for an airsoft shop in California. The whole industry in the states is slow. At least that's what the distributors have been saying. Do you think places like GI and evike are having so many sales?
>>
>>1100275
>our very first airsoft game this weekend.
Just rent some shit at the field.
>>
>>1099912
>>1100610
Nah airsoft's maintaining if not gaining popularity from what I've seen. The reason why sales are slow is that the main burst of cheap chinese guns has slowed down and a lot of people are usually set with just 1 gun. Another issue is that there aren't many options outside the G36/AR/AK that have been expanded upon which means that people aren't going to buy yet another M4 or AK unless they like collecting the guns. This concept of Airsoft peaking at 2007 is ridiculous as its still gaining players at a constant rate, just with fewer and smaller sales due to most buying one cheap gun and being content.
>>
>>1100734
Another thing is that after 1500 dollars of airsoft gun spending I'm uneasy about buying any new guns as I have what I want. Many older players are in the same situation as we have nothing new to really want especially if we run HPA rigs.

Moreover, if anything drives down players, its the lack of fields to play at. Case in point, one of our local free community fields shut down due to the land being sold off.
