I live in southeast Michigan and I always hear this sound that sounds like a wolf howling or a siren or something-- but I'm pretty sure there's no wolves around the Detroit metro area so I don't know what it is, and I know it isn't a siren.
I recorded a sound of it (It is sort of hard to hear beneath the bird sounds and windchimes but it's the best I could do-- it is a protracted slow sorrowful sound)
It rained last night and is a little colder today than it has been recently if that means anything. I recorded the sound at about 11:30am.
Does anyone know what it is? Sorry if its blatantly obvious and I'm an idiot.

That's creepy. I wanted to say coyote but can't be sure. Are coyotes native? Wolves?
>>2159160
idk i thought coyotes made more high-pitched sounds, and mostly at night-- although there are coyotes here so possibly

I can't even be sure about that though. Coyotes -can- make a noise like this, but usually don't. You'd hear barking in the background. Let me listen again and see if I can figure this out.

it's weird because i've heard it a hundred times but never thought to record it until today-- and it's always that same sound. i've never heard any yipping or barking alongside it.

I can't find anything anon. Pretty spooky.
I can't think of anything but to suggest you listen to owl calls and try to see if it's one of them.

i tried all the owl calls on my merlin bird ID, nothing. :(
oh well. thank you for trying to help. it gets even spookier the longer i cant figure it out lol

>but I'm pretty sure there's no wolves around the Detroit metro area
I've never actually been to Detroit but I've heard they have packs of wild dogs roaming the area.

It's either dogs, coyotes, or sasquatch.

I have been dreading having to say this, but it's squatch.
Immediately seal all your beef jerky up and put it in the freezer.
Be careful out there.

I've been replaying the clip for a while, and I'm really not sure what it is.
I've never heard coyotes like this, it almost seems like a siren or wind blowing through something to me. How far away are the sounds usually?
