Interesting thing is, nicotine is also an all natural pesticide. Crows have started cleaning up city streets by picking up any cigarette butts they see so they can line their nests with them.
I don't know how the figured it out, but the left over nicotine in the butts help protect their chicks from fleas, ticks, lice, and probably mosquitoes.
