What exactly does it do to kitties?
Is it like cocaine for cats?
Whenever I give mine some he likes to sniff it then roll around in it
mine eats his catnip.
Mine will roll around in it. 20 minutes later she's in bed coming down.
Mine doesn't react to the catnip ball I got her at all.

Catnip is a member of the mint family. Cats don't really get intoxicated by it, if they did eat enough it would sedate them. I brew it in tea for night-timed sedation.
One of the aromatic molecules of catnip (and related) is similar to a cat pheromone so some cats get excited by the smell due to confusion.

A good number of cats do not react to it, or have a very minor reaction.
I once gave catnip to our neighbours cat and allegedly, it humped their daughter all night. Which wasnt that bad until they said that they dont have a cat.

yeah if my cat even has any biological response at all, she definitely holds her catnip like a champion. i've just stopped trying to give it to her entirely.
