Doesnt it makes sense to convert to veganism if we really care about animals and environment? Do you know how much the cow poop and resudies of the industry contamines?

What do you think /an

just noticed I put veganism as the name instead of the thread...

Veganism is definitely the better choice for your health, which is why I chose the lifestyle. But still, it's really the guilt that keeps me away from chicken nuggets.
>>

Avoiding industrial meat does not equal veganism. There's a whole world of options between those two opposite ends of the spectrum.

It really isn't. Not by a long shot

It feels good eating your own butchered meats. That way you "know" your animal, you know they're not sick or mistreated, and they taste better than mass-produced meats.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Enjoy.

I couldn't do veganism anyway because of certain dietary intolerances that make cutting dairy and meat-based proteins out of my diet untenable for long-term health outcome.

It would also be extremely hippocritical because I'm living with two obligate carnivores and two opportunistic carnivores (both of which are completely grain intolerant, where one has a tremendously high protein requirement and the other requires daily supplementation of diet with porcine pancreatic enzymes, so feeding them a vegan diet would be totally irresponsible.)

We're generally designed to eat our greens with the occasional eating of meat. We can expect a consistent supply of vegetables/fruits from our environment but the results of a hunt are not guaranteed..

The best way to live is not eat meat every day or be a vegetarian, but have meat occasionally. Balance the two lifestyles, not stick to one or the other.

As a race we should eat meat less as it's better for the environment and is a true luxury we really shouldn't be accustomed to.

Veganism is good on a logical scale, and in societies such as India you witness the non warrior/worker castes refusing to eat meat as a means of ensuring their soldiers/laborers have access to it.

Veganism on a moral scale is absurd though - you are just another animal, you have no ability or right to say that animals are less worthy of being eaten than plants. Either eat living things, or do not, unfortunately one of those really isn't possible right now.

Nah senpai
Really you shouldn't be eating meat everyday and you shouldn't eat industrial meat, but cutting meat out completely is unhealthy, hypocritical, idiotic and serves no purpose. You don't save any animals by not eating meat, you just let it go to waste, and thus the animals died in vain. What you should do, is eat meat only 3 or so times a week, plus a day or two where you eat fish, and you should only buy from farms/butchers or otherwise places that you know treat the animals well and with care and love.

Don't be a hypocritical retard, don't support animal abuse, eat meat.

You fucking moron.

If you believe in the rite for life for animalkind you are ensuring not rites for life in the plant kingdom. The planet is not an easily digestible model if you're choosing a moral code think about local crisis not globally.

You seem short tempered, maybe you should stop eating meat instead of coming up with retarded loopholes?

I heard a really good BBC analysis pod cast about eating meat and various human ethical standard.

Ultimately, as the most intelligent sentient creatures on the planet, breeding live stock for our personal use is somewhat cruel and barbaric. But you would be naive to say we could just stop it. It's so ingrained into us as we have been doing it since the dawn of time (doesn't make it right, we also used to rape as a 'right', the list goes on... Etc appeal to nature).

Way down the track in the future we will be able to print meat etc so it won't be necessary to breed animals for that.

Will it happen any time soon? No. Does it make you an evil person for doing it? No.

At the end of the day it's up to you what you want to do, but vegans aren't hurting anyone and although I could never be one, I certainly commend their ideas ideology ad there is nothing wrong with what they want to do.

It's up to you anon.

No.

Because there are much greater issues to the world than eating animals.

Overpopulation/pollution/destruction of forests.

I'm all for animal welfare, but the human race is not going to die because we keep eating other animals.
>>

You bring up a valid point about conservation, but unfortunately that isn't the issue at hand. It's mutually exclusive and has evaded the point.

You'll find too that veganism tackles all the problems you've listen. Destruction of forrest through commercialisation and factory farming, pollution through the hug r amounts if resources it takes to upkeep farms and deliver meat logistically across countries. As for over population, I'm not sure ive heard many vegans tackle that as its cause hasn't much to do with animal exploitation, but who knows.

The argument that A is pointless because of B is a logical fallacy. It's like when people say things in Facebook like 'I can't believe we give x amount of money to footy teams, when that could be spent on leukemia patients. I could then say,' well I think we need to give that money to koalas in bush fires, or soldiers suffering with ptsd, or to the young law society so we can have more informed legislation makers'. It never ends.

So inadvertently, you problems you have raised are in a matter of fact, quite vegan. And I'm sure they, as well as myself (not vegan) hope you raise awareness about deforestation.

And I apologise for bad grammar, on me phone.

Not to mention veganism isn't about saving the earth's population, it's about delivering a humane and sustainable world for us all to live in. So that's twice you argued incorrectly. I probably sound like a dick to you, I'm not trying to be. I just think that you are undermining your own point and what you really want to see in the world is what alot of vegans wants too. We could make a happy compromise if people tried to look at things transparently.

>Not to mention veganism isn't about saving the earth's population, it's about delivering a humane and sustainable world for us all to live in

No. No it's not. Veganism at it's heart is people upset by animal death and pain.

Even when eating other organisms is the most natural thing on the planet.
