Is being cute a valid evolution strategy?

Considering it gets people to donate to preserve pandas, yes. If it works, it's valid.

Only for young animals cuteness has no effect on full grown animal life except mentally ill humans of course that for some explained reason desire to make thing cute like a bunch of lunatics our ancestors would probably beat us senseless if they say the stupid shit we have done to their animal friends the first dogs.

panda conservation isn't working. at least not in its current model. most of the pandas that have been released into the wild have died, mostly because China dumps all its effort into trying to captive breed the assholes (which is VERY hard) and not putting nearly as much effort into trying to preserve their natural ecosystem. what the fuck is the point of releasing pandas into the wild if you're going to bulldoze their bamboo forests to build another fake city or some shit?

Urban bunnies and foxes say yes.

Honestly, money and reseources wasted on the panda could be better spent elsewhere.

However, you have a lot of everyday people who don't understand that or think it's cruel to say that. These people donate because pandas are cute and big. So, for that reason alone, so much effort is put into pandas. So we can get idiots to donate money.

Also china using them as good PR.

It's actually detrimental to a point. The success of pandas lies in habitat conservation. If you looked up a map of panda habitat, it totally fucked and broken up. People aren't helping their habitat though. They spend money on pandas being in zoos and breeding in zoos, and pandas don't do well in zoos. Some animals just don't breed well in zoos, panda bears aren't even the hardest. Cheetahs are known to be the most difficult mammals to breed in captivity, I don't know if there has even been a successful cheetah breeding. And even if pandas did breed well in captivity, it wouldn't help very much because most pandas wouldn't be returned to the wild, and even if they were, most would die because they aren't properly raised to live in the wild, as hard as I'm sure they try to prepare them.

Tldr people are using pandas to breed in captivity for $$$ and neglecting the fact that their habitat is currently fucked

>Cheetahs are known to be the most difficult mammals to breed in captivity

They figured out the secret to cheetah breeding a while ago at Fota Wildlife Park, Cork, Ireland. They have been breeding them there since 1984, and have had over 200 cubs born.

They are now so successful at it that they have had to move onto another subspecies of cheetah to breed instead. I am sure that every cheetah in Europe can have its lines traced to Fota now.

I think it's that the female only comes into heat upon smelling a male, so they need to swap the male and females enclosures a few times before introducing them to each other. Relatively simple, it just took a while for people to figure it out.

Do you mean paedomorphia traits. Certain species, including humans, have this trait that makes the species appear cuter over generations. It's unknown whenever it's to do with increased intelligence or desired aesthetics as the reason behind this.

Pandas are bioengineered by the Chinese for psy-ops.

Consider this:
They are black and white - the color of Taiji; the perfect harmony of Yin and Yang; the foundation of Chinese philosophy. They live in bamboo groves and love eating bamboos. Bamboo is cherished by the Chinese as a symbol of integrity and honor. They are cute, docile, love rolling around and look like huge vegetarian teddy bears. Their pups act like fluffy babies. They are designed to make people love them.

Look at them chink eyes. That's just too much coincidence to be a product of evolution.
