I got this picture from google, there isn't any blood but the same seems to be happening to my parents' dog and he's also acting somewhat weird, not as happy as he usually is.
I'm worried about it but they don't want to bring him to the vet, could it be anything serious? He's 8 years old
is that his butthole or what? all I'm gonna say is if my dog had that thing ANYWHERE I'd take him to the vet.

Vet here. Are there any other symptoms? Excessive licking can cause that sort of wounds, witch in turn can be caused by many other things. Among other theories would be the form of mastocytoma, allergy, regular injury or some of the other 300 things, no one can tell you anything from this picture alone. Long story short take him to the vet.
