What breeds need winter jackets or clothing for walks in winter?
I have an American foxhound, I assumed he was an all weather outdoors dog sense hunters often house them completely outside.
It's below freezing here and I notice that his ears get extremely cold and he shake them as soon as he gets in and wants me to just rub them. Do dogs with long floppy ears need earmuffs or something?

Depends. I have a small dog who has a winter jacket. When it snows I put on his boots too because everyone here uses salt on the sidewalks and plow trucks spray salt on the street. Without his booties his feet get really cold from the water from the salt melted snow and het gets small to large pieces of salt stuck to them too. He needs his booties and jacket.
Sorry I don't have any pics of them with their coats on.

>Why do dogs love snow so much?
I don't know. The white one gets excited and energized in the snow. She'll harass the male, trying to get him to play. The poor guy cant even take a piss without getting challenged and nipped in the ribs. It got to the point where he would only go to the bathroom in the trees at the back of the yard, just so he could have some peace.
Tyson. Great daine pit mix. His ears get pretty cold. Someone clipped his ear before we adopted him and that one gets very cold. As long as we warm his ears every once in a while he`s a happy dog.
