Why is it called the White-necked Crow? Its neck is not white and it's not like there was a shortage of distinctive characteristics. Its irises are red. That’s relay rear in members of the Corvus genus. They should call it the Red-eyed Crow and if there is already a Corvid called that then they should call it the Red eyed Raven.

The bases of the feathers on the neck are white. Sometimes if it's windy and the feathers are ruffled you can see it.
Sorry, OP. There are lots of animals named after traits that are super-difficult to see in the wild. Especially animals that look super-similar to their relatives.

Another problem with the name is that it makes it relay easy to confuse the whit-necked crow with the white necked raven.
