Farm people: They have a tedency to attack chickens.
Regular people: They get traumatized when they see them attack anything, cat, toy dog, rat, etc.
Dog and cat people: They hate anything that aren't dogs and cats despite calling themselves animal lovers. This is the primarily reason why any animals other then dogs and cats are hated.

I have free range chickens and every so often a red tail hawk comes around and tries to get one but so far they always make it in the bushes were it cant get them.
I don't hate the hawk I just go out and scare it off by shooting up in the air.
Big eagles have been known to go after deer. People would find deer killed with no predator tracks around them and obvious wounds. Couple years back, a motion camera caught a golden eagle taking down a deer.

I used to raise chickens but honestly I hated the feathered fucks. I'd protect em when I could just because chickens are an investment but when hawks would try to snatch em up I'd be halfass amused and say shit like "DEATH FROM ABOVE MOTHERFUCKERS" when I went out to scare the hawks off. Besides they usually get the old or especially retarded ones and I'd have to replace the laying hens when they got too young anyway.
To my surpreme regret they never got any of the roosters. Fuck I hated those things.
