wow dude thats a really cool snek can you post any more pics of sneks in that or similar resolution please
>>
I keep my snake in my room and sometimes when he shits it smells bad for the whole day even if I spot clean it right away. I know snakes have sensitive respiratory systems. With that in mind is there a safe way to give my room a nice scent? It's freezing cold where I live so opening the window and letting the room air out isn't really an option.

not sure how to solve your problem but i'm curious what kind of snake. my kingsnake always had this problem, but my boa and ball don't.
>>
I am housing 2 similar sized ball pythons until i get a terrarium for the recently purchased one.

How unsafe is this?

inncense will cover the smell up real nice depending on how strong a scent you get. Also scented candles and oils help too.

How are you guys housing yours?

As in light vs heatpad?

I've heard I should get a proportional thermostat to regulate the temperature more precisely, along with a probed thermometer to constantly know the temperatures of the warm and cool zones of the tank. Is this really necessary? I don't feel like it is, and don't see why a simply heat pad + thermometer wouldn't suffice. But I'm not looking to skimp on my snakes health, so maybe some of you fags can enlighten me

And the tank is only 10.5x24 and maybe 18 tall (inches), so I just really don't feel that all that tech is necessary

Thermostat does not need to be proportional, the cheaper on/off variety is fine. You do need to have some device to regulate the heat output as uth will get hotter than you want it to without some control.

As for monitoring cool side, just get an ir temp gun and check it periodically.

You can use a ceramic heat emitter or radiant heat panel if you wish. Depending on the tank design that can sometimes be easier. Uses more power though.

Thanks for the feedback.

Why can't a just get a heat pad with settings, and run it on the applicable setting, one that doesn't get too hot?
>>
>>2013000
I have one of those (decent brand) and I'm just gonna say if you need it to be at all accurate it sucks.

(they're awesome but I wish people in my house would stop checking their pee with it ;w;)
>>
>>2013010
Your decent brand proportional thermostat isn't even accurate?

I'm currently looking at the jump start model right here:

http://www.amazon.com/MTPRTC-ETL-Certified-Thermostat-Germination-Reptiles/dp/B000NZZG3S

Probably buying the heat pad suggested with it too

I house mine in my trousers.
>>
>>2013014
Is this my most secure AND cheapest option?

I don't want to leave my python alone with the risk of it burning or getting too cold.
>>
>>2013010
what is it? You're telling me your thermostat isn't accurate?
>>
I want a Rosy boa or a children's python but my mom says no snakes ;_;
>>

>>2013034

Anon was referring to ir temp gun. Those are accurate but you have to be careful to follow directions for your device. All of them have a specific range you need to be away from the spot you want a reading off of (usually 12-15 inches). If closer or further away the accuracy goes way down.

Use substrate
>>
>>2013028
This is actually what I use. If you want a cheaper option that works just as well, get
http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Horticulture-68-108%C2%B0F-Thermostat-Controller/dp/B010GFADNM

which is like half the price for the exact same thing.

Sorry, I have no clue which heat pads I bought. Zoo Med, I think. They were on sale.
