Maclura pomifera
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maclura_pomifera
I grew up on an old retired orchid farm in Southern California, we had one of these trees on the property. Sadly they're not very good for eating.
Bro that's a tennis ball.

Where are you from?
They're native to North Amereica, but they're very common in Europe as ornamental plants.
>>1991794
Bulgaria. I was pretty outdoorsy as a kid and grew up on a farm, exploring both woods and fields and haven't seen one.

>Sadly they're not very good for eating
>Sadly
I know that feel. They just look so delicious.

>Nigga. I got wiki too, you know.
Well then don't ask for an ID here you fuckwit

You know, I say "sadly," but I wasn't that sad because we also had a couple loquat trees on the property which have the best fucking fruit on the whole planet.
>>1991805
Those look nice, but I've never seen them around here
>>1991810
They are very rare outside of China
>>1991805
Have a tree myself. Fairly common here in Florida. They taste great and a lot of my neighbors ask to have some.
>>1991820
They're really good; they taste very moist and juicy, and the flavor is kind of exotic -- maybe kind of like an apple, with the texture of a peach? If you pick them too early, while they're still yellow-green, they can be very sour and tart, yet still sweet. If you let them go longer, they become more golden and much juicer and sweeter. I like them in the middle here, where they're tart and juicy. All the critters around here love them, too. Last year the birds and squirrels got most of them before I did, so it's kind of hard to recall exactly what they taste like. If you ever get a chance to eat one, you should take it.

Sounds good, I'll try to get one.
If we're at it already: what do you think about pawpaw? Like it, not, why not? A local store has a few plants, but I never tasted it.
>>1991823
Not currently, sorry. I'm staying with my brother for a few days to help him move into his new house. Our tree's pretty small since it was planted about a foot away from our garage, and there's a part of it that looks like it's dying, so we may have to rip it up soon, unfortunately.
Good job describing the flavor, by the way. I didn't really know how to describe what it tasted like.
>>1991826
Yeah, they're pretty good. I like them a lot. Never seen that before, though. I'm gonna have to look that up. Honestly, I think the most exotic thing I've ever eaten was a lychee nut.
>>1991830
>Never seen that before, though.
It's North American and not really popular anywhere else. Probably because it has a short shelf-life.
>>1991832
Interesting. Apparently it tastes kinda like a banana. If you like bananas, maybe you should try it? I'd do so just to satisfy my curiosity. Looks pretty tasty.

Listen up here, turdburgler. I asked because I didn't know and one guy said horse apple, I googled it and the first result was the wiki, the rest of the replies just posted what was in the wiki. I doubt that somebody knows the latin name by heart for this, as >>1991777 replies.
Posting more Tunisian fruit. This one is edible, best when ripe.
>>1991886
>I doubt that somebody knows the latin name
>just because I'm ignorant others have to be too
What the fuck is worng with you?
>look at this african plants
>posts maclura and opuntia
OP is a cunt
>>1991887
It was irrelevant after somebody posted the colloquial name for it anyway. Also everything I said related to Africa is that I found it there. What a fucknugget.
Got nothing else fruit-related.
>>1991892
>colloquial name
Maclura pomifera, commonly called Osage orange, hedge apple,[3] horse apple, monkey ball,[4] bois d'arc, bodark, or bodock
>latin name is too hard, i'll just rather memorise this fuckton of trivial names
>>1991898
>horse apple
that means something different in the West.

I saw something like this in a really polluted creek by my house!! Can anybody tell me exactly what they are and why when I broke a hole in it, it smelled like Satan's asshole? I live in Austin tx
>>1991826
Thirding the pawpaw love. They're Native to the USA and they're super tasty. Grow some and spread the seeds in the woods to help them re-establish if they live in your area. The deer and rabbits will love you for it.
