It seems to have gotten worse in terms of troll/bait threads but I don't think the advice has gotten worse since it always seemed to suck.

It's almost like /r9k/ the way that bait threads are the most replied threads.
>>
A few points.

The OP has a responsibility to filter out what advice they want to follow, and what is bad advice. There is good advice, you just need to look for it.

There are always going to be trolls, especially in an anonymous environment such as 4chan, and you can't blame the whole board for the shit advice that's doled out.

Many, if not most, OPs here have already decided what they want to do, or they already know that what they want to do is a bad idea. They just want validation. That's assuming they stick around, many OPs make a thread and then disappear.

There's a hide thread button. If you don't like threads or just aren't interested in them, hide them. I have about 80% of threads hidden at any time.
>>
been lurking here for a few years

It's about the same

>There are always going to be trolls, especially in an anonymous environment such as 4chan, and you can't blame the whole board for the shit advice that's doled out.

It seems to have gotten worse though. No, it has gotten worse in terms of trolls.

But ignoring the troll threads, for legitimate threads that aren't from total retards such as job threads and becoming more social threads, most of it seems to be self-help/fortune-cookie bullshit.

>Go out there and be cool
>Go out there and get your dream job.
>etc
>>
>>16823727
Almost every query gets at least a couple of serious attempts to help. You just have to sort through all the trolls to find them. (One hint - they tend to be longer and more thought-out)
>>
Agree. Been lurking here for years off and on, sometimes every day. Just recently started using a trip if I post, most commonly if I start a thread. Can confirm the opie has already made up his/her mind and just wants validation part. Although sometimes I make a thread and I'm genuinely on the fence about something, and need to get a push in the right direction.

This board used to always make me sad from reading so many unhappy stories. I don't know why I stick around. The rare times I can genuinely provide advice, I do
>>
I genuinely try to reply to new threads created, granted that they aren't troll threads or asinine questions. I often leave constructive advice and criticisms, but even then I notice OP's never returning, or the threads simply die out with one reply. It does seem like most people simply reply in the larger threads just because they are larger.
>>
>>16823812
To give you a point, sometimes I make a thread, wait a bit, and then end up falling asleep. I'm sorry. Or perhaps I'm at work and it's hard to tend to the thread regularly. I prefer to work at work rather than waste time on 4chan.

So others could just be falling asleep too
>>
>>16823812
>but even then I notice OP's never returning, or the threads simply die out with one reply.

Yeah, starting a sensible thread just to watch it die and being topped by "I hate women #6023" thread is kinda disheartening.
>>
That's a sweet cover
>>
>>16823820
It's a good book as well.
>>
>>16823813
I think you are correct, a lot of anon's do fall asleep, or move on to other activities for a while. The simple explanation is simply that this board is slow as heck. It can sometimes take a couple of hours before getting any advice, and even longer for threads buried beneath the usual drivel.

>>16823818

It really is, especially when it looks like the anon genuinely need help, or is lingering on the brink of making a really huge mistake. This is generally why I come to advice, open the catalog and check out the threads at the very bottom first.
>>
>>16823841
Though one thing I could never quite get about the book, is why the underground man hasn't killed himself. His life is pretty dismal, small and alone, yet still he's still alive at 40.
>>
>>16823853
That's a good strategy checking the ones at the "bottom" of the catalog

Schools are on break in britbong, normal service should resume in 3 days
>>
>>16823897
>4chan is britain only
>>
>>16823897
Kinda doubt that.

If anons could just figure out how to socialise, then half the (legit) threads could be solved but instead we get:

1. Go outside
2. Go to the local pub/club/etc
3. ????
4. Profit.

Are you a fucking moron?

He loves living!!! He loves to struggle and observe and wax dramatic!
>>
I've gotten excellent advice in /b/. As for /adv/ it helped me realize I'm not the only person going through my issues and confusion, which helped me. It also helped me clear up some misconceptions I had about etiquette and socializing.
>>
I once wrote stuff about the difference between how men and women decide who they want to date, and it gets posted every once in a while if it's relevant.
>>
>>16824314
>He loves living.
I doubt he actual lives as opposed to just existing.

>loves to struggle and wax dramatic
I think it parallels self-harming, a coping mechanism, that he learnt to enjoy misery cos he's not really capable of much else.
>>
>>16824363
Have you ever been suicidal?
>>
>>16824394
Not exactly, I have too much weighing me down, to just leave like that. Otherwise I've jumped off the nearest bridge by now.
>>
What happened to the NEET threads?

I liked them despite that fuck truckerfag posting in them. Makes a nice change from all the 'I can't get a gf' threads. The OPs in those always reveal that they have a lot more issues than just not having a gf.

/r9k/ is basically NEET city now. Besides, the last thing this board needs is "normie" shitposting.
>>
>>16823818
Maybe women should stop being such useless whores then

>>16825925
truckerfag got defeated by the one true god king

Pegasus please tell me what the fuck you gain from shitposting while being a tripfag?

>>16825936
>/r9k/
Fuck that board.

>normie shitposting
which means what exactly?
>>
>>16826011
Entertainment

Endless repeatable sources of pure entertainment
>>
>>16826011
It basically mean if you have any issues that are not NEET issues (Even if you do, it is no guarantee), you will be shitposted withe asinine, off-topic comments, the classic of which would be "Normie get out" followed by a memetastic "Ree"ing.

Also, I'm sure you've noticed some of them browse /adv/ too, unfortunately.
>>
>>16826032
As it should be

You're not welcome here
>>
>>16826046
I genuinely hope you fall down the stairs and paralyse yourself from the waist down.

>>16826032
Yeah, it's gotten noticeably worse.
>>
The thing that annoys me the most is there seems to be nowhere else to turn to except and judging by previous threads before this place started turning to shit, is that therapy is too expensive and useless.
>>
>>16826119
I paralyze your mom from the waist down every time i visit her
>>
>>16826840
Man, you're sadder than most anons.
>>
What trolls often fail to understand here is that even the most idiotic threads can actually have meaningful answers, advices that may change or even save peoples lives. They just need to be seen by the correct people or their friends.

Sure the opposite is also true, but to be honest if it's only natures job to get rid of idiots who believe everything they read in the internet.
>>
Right now, a tranny thread is getting legitimate posts. Out of all the threads, the one containing faggotry gets legitimate posts.

I guess when anons can post infographs and get closer to fucking something that looks vaguely like a woman, they get on board.
>>
>>16827152
Don't forget where you are. Mainstream or not, there's only a few other places where you can say your mind like here. best you can do is focus on the threads that contain a bit more substance than "I want to switch genders" general.
