How do I grow my hair pic related long and make it look glorious? Right now I have pretty short hair, but I've always thought I'd grow it out.
Do I go get a certain haircut first?
What are the steps?
How long or tiring is the process?
Any tips or general advice?

desu OP you just it grow up, be sure to trim it once you hit shoulder length because split ends. Use conditioner as well.
there's going to be a phase of you growing it out and it'll make you look terrible regardless, and depending on how you can take it, just leave it be and eventually it'll handle itself.
And if you can't handle the awkward phase where your hair length is around your mouth, just rock hats.
once you have the long hair, you'll probably tie it back at some point, just don't tie it too tight.

Well he generally shouldnt get split ends unless he straightens his hair or does other heat treatments which im betting he wont.
Yes please use conditioner. I dont really like long hair on guys but i appreciate shiny hair on anyone.
Okay, as someone with hair to my thighs(and silky too), only shampoo at your scalp, and once it gets to pony-tail length, only condition from the pony-tail down. Once every three or four months treat your hair with coconut oil. It'll grow to glory within a year.
as >>17367293 says, there's definitely going to be an awkward stage where your hair is going to looks kinda wonky (too long to be short and too short to be long). Once you can tie your hair back at least partially everything will be more manageable. Just don't give up and keep growing it!
