My friend, t, went to teach English is Dalian, China, A city close to North Korea. He sent our group chat that he's coming home immediately. A friend he was talking to said that he was either being threatened by locals or by authorities, which he seems to suspect the latter. He's mentioned a few times hanging out with hoodlum types to me though, so it's tough which is true.
what further suspects me of it being locals was that he was talking to a different girl who already had a boyfriend but would have made her guy and the new guy fight for her pussy.
however, China is China, so its easy to get abused by authorities. But he's not a trouble maker and keeps to himself politically, so what the hell would they want business with him?
