So I have the opportunity to go on a date with a really cute Japanese girl who immigrated to my country not long ago.
We've talked online quite a bit, and she's really nice, and seems like the right kind of person for where I am in my life, but my main concern is her English - it's not that great. We've been able to maintain a conversation online (mainly basic stuff about interests/jobs/families, etc.), and I wouldn't say her language proficiency is a lot worse than some people whose first language is english, but I'm worried we won't be able to have an actual conversation in person.
I'm worried that we'll go out and just sit there, unable to actually talk to one-another, and that maybe some humour won't translate, or I'll tell an anecdote or want to discuss something, but she won't understand. Any ideas on how to make conversation easier with the language barrier if I go out with her?
