Hey I'm in the process of becoming a police officer and one of the questions asks have you ever viewed or accessed CP, im too nervous to lie about it I have viewed CP on /b/, ive never willingly pursued CP but i used to browse /b/. Even if i say yes and explain normies dont understand how 4chan works. Unsure what to do, scared about polygraph any advice?
Im under the notion that they will catch any attempt to cheat and i by no means want to cheat. But im stumped here.

I'm pretty sure they know what 4chan is, maybe even /b/. Don't put it past them. You should come up with a way to explain it because if it says you lied, you will look like a full blown creep and you don't want that. In all honesty you probably won't make the cut since you'll have to bring up that you browse /b/, which is super degenerate to begin with. Just be 100% open and honest and hope for the best. Who knows, maybe they will let it slide if you can impress them in other areas. If not, at least you can walk away knowing you tried your best to salvage whatever respect the examining officers had for you, and maybe still on good terms.

Polygraphs aren't all seeing eyes. They aren't legally acceptable in US courtrooms. You have to -believe- that you are better than the polygraph.

Do not admit to seeing cp even if you have; had a friend who went into the California highway patrol and they had a similar polygraph requirement. They asked about drug use and he said he had never used drugs even though he used to smoke a lot of pot. They flagged that on the test and asked him about it in the follow up interview.
basically they tried to trick him into admitting it. He held strong, didn't admit it and he was accepted despite it.

You have no idea what you're talking about. It's illegal to possess whether you're underage or not, and simply viewing it in the browser IS possession: your browser makes a request over the internet automatically when you open the thread, the server complies and serves you the images. The images are now in RAM on your computer to be displayed on the screen. You were in possession of them for at least the duration they were displayed.

You should read about how polygraphs aren't actually legitimate "lie detectors", and how often they produce false positives. If you're going to lie on one it helps to know they're not as effective as people think.
If you do seek those images then you should not further the interview process because if that is the case then you are one to be arrested and not one fit to arrest.
It's a different world I know and I hope you reported the images you viewed to at least participate somewhat in alleviating the misery and pain inflicted upon that defenceless child by a first class Mexican bow tie deserved predator.
