I want to start working my brain/memory more as I am letting it waste away, I also want a hobby of sorts to keep me busy as video games aren't too interesting anymore and lifting only takes up so much time.

I don't really need to know a second language but I think it would be cool to know one anyway. Does anyone think this is a good idea?

Sure. If you want a hobby, what matters is YOU think it's good. Not whether /adv/ agrees on it or not.
