How can I become a better conversationalist? I tend to be really

How can I become a better conversationalist? I tend to be really egocentric and I worry that I'd alienate the person I'm talking to if I spoke my mind. I think really hard for open conversation topics but my mind is always blank from anxiety. On rare occasions when I have surplus energy and confidence, I feel okay with taking risks and somehow simply know what to say.

ask open-ended questions and then let the person talk for a couple minutes before jumping in with your experiences. before you open your mouth to share your take on the topic, ask yourself if it could be interpreted as trying to hog attention or one-up the other person.
