here is my shit poem

"Let the love flow endlessly
Let it pass through
But I await impatiently
Time slips by as I stew
Grasp at photons with firm anxiety
That builds up inside of me
Let me release this heavy darkness
It manifests as effortless love
I promise
As long as you engage it with the same care
Stare through the mirror at odd times
Tell myself that I see aspects of you
But the drearier I get
The more they fade
Try to find commonality
In the right places
But where it does show
Only reinforces what I know
What I know discourages
Please realign me
Crooked thoughts bookmarked
Helpful ones frantically forgotten
Creative mind rotten
Infested with the thoughts I dispel
Write another verse to sooth

Had a shit day today, your two poems helped me at least smile for a bit. They're nice.

I never really liked reading books, novels and stuff, but I recently stumbled upon another poem that I already forgot the name of and lost the link to. Where should I start if I wanted to read some more poetry, something like you posted?

Currently reading some real good poetry by William Stafford. Also reading the Tao Te Ching and poetry by Jim Dilles.

Other than that I'm inspired by a lot of (lyrically interesting, not generic) rap music. Like check out Lil Ugly Mane:

"Backseat driving, passenger traveling
Bumming a ride in my own brain
Pointless meandering, using the vanity mirror to break up the cocaine
Loitering, lost in a memory somewhere between a first kiss and a dope vein
Nursing myself as an infant and in the same instant I'm shackled and cuffed and restrained
How does this fucking pertain to anything other than coping with pain?

May be too edgy for some people, but I think that it's undeniably well-worded and has strong imagery
