So I got this cute girl's number yesterday, she works at a chineseplace near my dorm and we see each other about once or twice a week. It wasn't busy, we talked for a bit while my food was getting ready, etc, asked for her number, got it, texted her for about half an hour last night. My question is, considering I haven't done this in a while, when would be a good time to text her again, what should I say (just general conversation topics, I can handle myself from there), and how long till I actually ask her out to dinner or something.

What does that play into it? If you're short on money say you're going on a walk or a hike. Most towns have free events that go on. Check those out. Typically I 'free' date girls until I think there is a possibility of more of the relationship. If you take her on a walk and find out your personalities don't mesh you aren't out anything. Plus, the physical activity and sun helps you out for the next girl you ask out.
