My legal name is Alexis, but everyone's always called me Lexi. Honestly, I don't really like either and I've been thinking about calling myself Alex instead. I'm about to go to college so its pretty much now or never to go by a new name.
What should I do /adv/? I'm kind of scared my new name won't stick or something like that. Has anyone here ever changed their name and how did it work out?

bump
As an adult, you want a name that conveys professionalism. It's like a guy named William who was called Billy as a kid but settles on Bill as an adult. The transition should be easy.

you seem pretty self-absorbed desu.

Why though? Lexi's a cool name, wish I was called that instead of Alex when I was younger. Alex always sounded dry and boring to me, and while I wasn't very fond of Alexis either, its at least hell of a lot better than Alex.

Why? Because I want to change my name?

Lexi just sounds like a little kid name to me and it kind of makes me cringe when I hear it. Alex is the only other choice I have because I dislike Alexis and my middle name.
It's your name; do whatever you want.
You don't need to legally change anything. Just tell people what to call you
I'm rather find of the name Alexis. For girls anyway.
