My current prescription for nearsightedness is around -8.00. I got this prescription about a year or so ago. I really need help before I go blind; what should I do? As of right now, LASIK and other types of eye surgery are a bit out of reach as I'm a fresh highschool graduate with no current income.

Unless you have a medical condition its impossible to go blind. Unless you spend your days glaring at the sun or staring into a flashlight. Im semi blind in my right eye genetically and my eyesight hasn't changed in my 19 years of living
You also can't get laser eye surgery if your prescription hasn't stablised. Given your age, it's unlikely it has.

Well, I started wearing glasses in the second grade and it's gotten to the point where I'll be legally blind in a few years. And it seems to only get worse as the days go by.

Like I said, you can't get it unless your prescription stablises. If it's still getting worse, then you're not going to be able to get it.

Do you know of anyway that I can reduce the rate at which my eyes degenerate?

Hypochondria at its finest

Have you experienced similar things?
Check if your insurance encompasses such surgery, also try to raise money at some fundraising sites.
My mom paid around $2k 10 years ago, though it was in Southern Europe xD

Again, it doesn't matter whether OP can afford it or not if his eyes haven't stablised

There really isn't much you can do. Talk to your doctor or optometrist.

When my doctor told me my blindness was real. It'd made it seem like my vision was getting worse, but really it was just me being hypo

I see. (Oh the puns). Can you tell me if you've experienced the same thing? I would take off my glasses for about 2 hours and go for a jog and when I put them back on, the difference was very noticable. In that before my jog while wearing glasses, my vision was noticable worse than after my jog while wearing glasses.

When doing a strenuous activities your vision will fade that's natural. Actually try drinking more water. My vision only starts fading in and out when I try to focus using that eye. Try not thinking about it or stop caring and see if things change.

Myopia tends to gallop when you're a kid and then slow down and stabilize, so the speed by which your eyesight has deteriorated is NOT an indication of the speed with which it will continue.
