How do I deal with being lonely? I'm 24 and live with my parents. We get along but I don't feel close to them, or anyone really. I've always had trouble opening up and we don't talk much.
I have a couple friends but one is moving to another city soon and I won't see him often.
I spend a lot of time alone, go to the gym, bars, concerts by myself. It's a good distraction but sometimes makes me feel worse because I see everyone out with their friends or significant other. Don't have girlfriend obviously. No real hobbies other than video games and I spend most of the time when I'm not working on the computer.
What should I do?

you might live the life of a consumer. try creating. people who make comics, books, videos, songs, ANYTHING dont feel lonely cuz their spare time goes to working on these things.
that being said, you should still expand your social situation a bit. twice a week is comfortable for me.

Anon I just want to tell you that you are doing very good. The fact that you actually leave the house and do stuff means you are not some weird guy that have some sort of crazy eyes.
Now what you need to understand is that all those people you meet or just see outside. They are not some kind of amazing super advanced species who got everything figured out and you are the weird person with something missing. You are just like them: trying to find your place in this world.
Now once you fucking understand that anon. That you are just live eveyone else, and just happen to lack a bit in the social department you can go to the next step.
The next step is not an actual real step its just small things. Like:
*you are at the local supermarket and just bought some icecream, you just handed the cash to the cashier and while waiting for the change you just be like:the weather is really nice/bad today. or if you just feel that all of that is a bit cliche then just look into their eyes and smile and wish them a good day.
'You are at the local park sitting on the bench; old guy come and sit next to you. Ask about the book they are holding in their hand or the weather or wte. Old people love to talk, because they are even more lonely than you are anon.
Maybe you dont need to do all of that if you actually understand that human interaction should just be simple. And it works way betetr if you listen more than you talk.
Also about girls: social media is so easy if you are too shy to talk up stangers out in bars by yourself. I met my soon to be fiance on instagram.

Back in 2014. My roomate made me create an instagram because he kept hooking with girls and I was bumming him being single who rarely hooked up with girls etc. (was in love with a girl that had friendzoned me)
Once I came out to that girl and she basically told me there was no way as we are just friends. Broke my heart etc ( you know how it goes).
I started just looking for girls to hook up with by commenting on old pictures. Mostly girls that were pretty but not too pretty and not too tall since Im just 170 cm (its kinda hard figuring out how tall girls are from pictures) and trying to get a conversation going on. Also with time I learned to stick to chicks who I knew lived in the same hometown otherwise you wont get too far. Once you get the conversation going in one of her pictures you ask if she has a kik or snap or wte. Then you basically take it over there and in a few days you will know if she is interested in you or not. Most of the time within a couple days. Then you ask them out. If it works it works if not then you shouldnt be talking to just the one. But the one that it got really serious with is a whole other story. And it went really slow. Like we talked on whatsapp for two months before meeting and by that time I had stopped this whole instagram thing because I was head over heels. And damn she is the most beautiful out of them all

People in parks and locations like that dont actually mind. Like running after a person or stopping someone that is walking to have a chat thats weird. But if you just happen to sit near eachtoher or are looking at the same things its not werid at all to strike a light conversation. LIGHT conversation.

Quiet anon . You can not easily talk to your parents because they can not talk to you or ask you about you. Then you see couples not mean they are happy, they are mostly only appearance. If you know the kind of girl you 're looking for something good do not settle for anything else , it is better to be single than having no future relations . If you like video games you could find people who also play video games especially in stores selling video games or arcades
First of all ditch video games and ditch the internet, stop masturbating. Then get bored until you can't take it any longer and you have this urge to occupy your mind. Channel this restlessness into something productive and keep that momentum - make movies, make art, write fiction, design furniture, learn how to dacne - keep yourself busy.
If you need to entertain yourself, read literature, or study something that you genuinely love.
You are not defined by the number of your friends, or whether or not you live with your parents. You are what you do in your freetime and right now you're sad guy in front of a screen playing videogames.
You may keep up a facade in your day to day interactions, but there is a little keyhole through which you involuntary let everybody know the real you. You cannot cover up that keyhole but you're in control of what shines through it.

OP, I was in your situation once. I've found that loneliness is really just a state of mind, and has little to do with who is around you and who you interact with. I feel the least lonely when I have hope, when I have something to look forward to, or when I have things that feel meaningful to distract my mind. I found that making a schedule for myself helped to keep me motivated to do things. When I was learning or creating, I felt like I was preparing myself for a better long term future, even if my short term future didn't have anything solid. Be sure to leave in plenty of free time, but don't ever skimp on your scheduled activities.
Pic is the schedule I used. After using it for a few months, I had created some cool stuff in Photoshop, designed a neat level for a video game, lost a significant amount of weight, and gotten a job.
