do you think I've spent too much on gifts?
background: I'm 26 and I've been dating a girl for about 6 months
now her birthday is coming up. I went to a few shops and bought several gifts and, before I realized it, the total was $140.
I personally am fine with it but I don't want her to feel uncomfortable.
I can return a couple things or keep them for another occasion if you guys think it's too much.
she's not a gold digger btw, she told me I didn't have to get her anything, but I obviously ignored that. I like buying gifts.
>I like buying gifts.
That's your problem.

yeah I think you must be right
I had so many ideas and couldn't choose so I got 'em all
If you can afford it, it's all good. If not, make a budget and stick to it next time

I'd say the issue is more the number of gifts than the value. Better to give one nice gift than dilute it with a whole bunch. If you're not a financially independent person, then maybe the cost is too much, but I wouldn't really worry about spending that much for a loved one. If some of the items are cheaper, hold onto them for future random little surprises. This way you can indulge your gift giving desire without overwhelming her in a single occasion.

Too many gifts? Spread them out across the day. Make her whole birthday a journey of you showing how much you care. Set each gift up so each one is presented uniquely. Give her a birthday she'll not soon forget.
thanks everyone for the thoughtful responses. you reminded me of why I love this board.
