It is different for young people because their brains are not fully developed yet, they have limited experience in the "real world", aka they both have no blame in their naivity and it is actually doable to cocoon them for a bit (in this case give them legal leverage to even out the odds a bit) until they can stand on their own feet. If after the eighteen years (or whatever the age decided upon) they haven't wizened up and cannot look out for themselves, tough shit, at that point it becomes a personal failing and you're on your own legally.

Obviously that is not the case, but most people experience tremendous development and growth between those ages. It is pretty reasonable to be weirded out by people who are stagnant in comparison, even if it's not necessarily wrong (to be an extreme late bloomer). Varies by state but in KY AOC is 16, which means minors (under 21. yes, you're not technically an adult until 21) can fuck each other freely between the ages of 16-20. It sucks OP. I know exactly how you feel and I thought about this all day at work so excuse the late bump.

I only have 3 friends in the world and I moved out of town so I only see them a few times a year, I haven't met anyone in 2 years in my new city. My whole life is working and being at home, usually drinking.
