Here goes /adv

I'm 21 and recently I started gambling, it started around 6/7 months ago on the roulette machines you find inside bookies.

I was paid £550 the Friday just gone and had withdrawn £200 to payback a small loan from a friend. I stopped by a bookies and put in £30 just as a small bet and said to myself I would walk out of there.

45mins to 1 hour later I had gambled £400 away and followed it up the next day with another £140 so I lost £540 in total. The rest went of things for myself just to ensure I was covered for the month.

I just couldn't stop, I'm a do first think later kind of guy and now I'm fucked for the month. I owe my mobile provider £54 and have £8 in my account, loans are a no go due to low credit score.

My entire life I have been the guy to do what I want when I want and had no regrets, I don't even regret this. I just want to be able to stop gambling and need to somehow survive until the 8th of July which is my next pay check.

I'm fucked up /adv, help..

Realize that casinos exist to make money. You can't win, most of the time. Shit's either rigged or you need to be really really good. See: poker.

Lol well if this doesn't teach you nothing will. Some people just refuse to learn. If you have such little willpower that being broke doesn't phase you then there's no helping you. Enjoy suckling dick for 20's.

I work in a bookies to, and where I live there is 6 of them in like 400 metre distance. Sometimes when I walk on the street I end up walking into one, something just compels me ://

I used to have insane willpower before, I had a promising career in football and I think after that collapsed it just fucked me up and until recently I'm just lashing out.. I don't know, just fuck...

So uncollapse it. Whether you do anything about it or not, you're the only person who has the capability to change what you do. The resonsibility lies with you.

call your mobile provider and tell them you need an extension due to financial hardship.
>>
Call your mobile company and ask for an extension. You shouldn't have to explain much. Just say you're in a bind cash wise but that you will without a doubt pay them on X day.

Don't gamble unless you're playing cards with friends, but considering your predisposition to what looks like an addiction to gambling/making poor choices you probably shouldn't do that either. Don't take it personal. Some people are just wired that way when it comes to gambling.

I was playing Hold 'Em this weekend with some friends and this guy lost $100 in one hand. He had $80 left and in a fit of rage/unclear thinking/obvious gambling addiction he bet it on a game of high card. Basically two people draw cards and the high card wins... He lost. A little while later he bet $200 on a coin flip. Luckily he that won so he basically broke even, but holy shit is that some stupid judgement and behavior. Almost lost close to $400 in an hour. I sort of felt sad for him. It was tough to watch. Don't be that guy.

Bloody hell mate, that's not good. I think I'd have a nervous breakdown if I lost £550, and it'd only take me a couple of days to earn it back. Loosing a months money in a betting machine seems like a valid reason to jump under a bus.

Probably the first thing to do is ask your boss for a sub. They're going to be giving you some money at some stage anyway, and it doesn't cost any more to give it to you today than it does to let you have it next week. I'll sometimes give my blokes a couple of hundred out of my own pocket or let them fill up their cars on my fuel card, because it's easier to do that than being short handed when they can't get to work. Just try and phrase it in a way where it seems that giving you a sub will benefit him - "can I have a hundred quid to cover my transport costs" is much more likley to work than "can I have a oner to go out and get shitfaced". The only real problem with that is where you're not earning a lot you might struggle to get through the next month when you pay it back, so maybe look at doing some extra hours to balance it out.

As far as motivation not to gamble goes, that should be straight forward. You did 20 hours work last month (or however long it takes you to earn £550), and you haven't even got enough money for a packet of fags. The guy who owns the machine though, you've bought his wife a new dress, paid for them to go out for dinner, given his kids £40 each for the weekend and covered the cost of getting his car valeted.

>that guy

gamblers fallacy, thinking you're due for a win at some point. The core of problem gambling.

wasn't personal at all, you told me what I needed to hear friend.

80 hours work in a month, that is for your input. It's honestly been taken on board
