I only have suicidal thoughts in English, never in my native language. Also when i'm sad i think much more in English than Portuguese.
Do you people also do this?
Yeah, mexican here.

that's really interesting.
>>17238511
what's the word for "suicide" in huehue?
>>17238511
There's something called theory of linguistic relativity, anon. (Or something like that, English isn't my first language either and I translated that directly, so perhaps they have a special term for that I'm not aware of.)
Basically, it argues that people speaking different languages see the world differently because their language shapes their perception of the world. I think I agree with it.
I do notice that my brain works in a slightly different way when I switch languages, although it's never as drastic as in your case.
Some languages are better at describing different aspects of emotions, than others! S U G O I

Yes. Some thoughts sound less severe in other languages, because native language carries a certain emotional heaviness to it, due to being the one you've spoken longest.
When I'm pissed at people I think in Swedish, when I'm sad in French, usually creative process happens in English. Native Finnish speaker.

Are you like a 1st generation immigrant or something?
>>17238534
SuicĂdio.
>>17238536
I know about that, but in my case it's the way that i express.my feelings myself.
>>17238544
I wonder if i'll think in french when i get good at it.
>>17238546
Nope.
>>17238583
Then why does it seem odd to you to think in English, if you're not a 1st generation immigrant?
>>17238511
Same thing the time I had a suicidal thought, but when I'm sad I also think a majority of the negative thoughts in english, they mostly play out as scenarios.
I'm swedish btw
Q. to english speakers, what's it like to only have one fluent language?
>>17238625
It's weird because i only ever think of suicide in English.
Sometimes i'm thinking in Portuguese and then automaticaly switch when i think about speed running my life.
>>17238639
I daydream scenarios in whatever language i was thinking before, it's funny because if i switch languages midway through they change a lot.
