Having unanimous respect and authority in a social group. Basically, confidence and assertiveness.
Social status measures how popular you are. For example, i'm currently a wide receiver in my schools football team and I sit with the most attractive people during lunch in the cafeteria. Therefore my social status means I'm very popular, and this will increase 10x in the coming for my senior year after the break. Some of the sluts in my group maintain a 4.0 gp and help us guys keep a 3.5 which helps get us into ivy league college. But I'm not too worried since everyone knows I'm a shoe in for a full ride scholarship at Burkely. So basically, the higher your social status, the higher your popularity, the higher chances you have to get into ivy league, and the higher chances of a brighter future. Sorry that you won't be able to understand something like this.

Now it's an highscool student problem, focus on getting a job and friends, no one care about "popular people" after.
