last month i snorted too much mdma in one sitting. the next morning my nose was blocked and i felt ill, for the next 3 weeks i would have a bad cough, blocked nose, headache etc. now that it has gone my nose still seems to be partially blocked but it isnt noticeable if i dont focus on it.. i looked up my nostrils recently and i have discovered that one is bigger than the other, and i can see my septum edging towards my right one. this hasn't given me any trouble breathing, so will i have to get it fixed? and what has caused the deviated septum?
also i searched online and some said that too much mdma/coke does not cause a deviated septum, but then i read that it does?

cliffs-
>too much mdma in one night
>nose is fragile the next morning, flu symptoms
>ill for a few weeks
>notice my septum is now deviated
>it isnt affecting my breathing or everyday life
>how did it become deviated and will i need to get it fixed

Those surgeries are a bitch.

Enjoy hell.
>>
>>17208348
do i need it though? it doesnt really affect me right now, but will it fuck me up long term? do you have experience?
>>
>>17208383
Don't get the surgery. If you're dumb enough to melt your brain with mdma, then you don't even deserve to be in good health to begin with when a productive member of society could use it more than you. Why should the resources of a surgery be wasted on you when you've shown your body so little respect?

wow edgy

you must be so cool

Uh oh, I got called edgy. I guess I better agree with you then so that I don't get judged by some strangers on the internet
>>
It doesn't really matter if it's just a little bit off. My left nostril is bigger than my right and it's harder to breathe through my right, but I don't any problems doing sports or anything else so who cares
>>
>>17208413
Well, he is correct
>>
>>17208391
i'm not doing it anymore
>>17208469
has my septum deviated because of the excessive mdma? or is it completely unrelated?
>>
>>17208621
You snorted absurd amounts of drugs which is likely to lead to a deviated septum if you do it longterm.

Did you do heavy amounts of MDMA longterm?

If not, it's something else. If you did, connect the dots.
>>
>>17208824
a line or two every second weekend for 6 months. not absurd but it couldve added up... i thought i would have a hole in my nose before it becomes deviated... also i used to hit myself in the nose often but i think thats unrelated completely
>>

1. Don't snort MDMA, put the goodies in rizzlas or capsules instead. It lasts longer, tastes nothing and doesn't fuck up your nostrils.
2. Don't do that shit several times a month, that's WAY too much. I had the same bad habit as well a few years ago and it fucked me up severely over time, but because it was so gradual I didn't notice it until it was almost too late. 4 times a year is more than enough, less is even better. The magic returns and you don't permanently fry your brains' natural serotonin production.

>>17209155
Also, why the hell were you hitting your own nose at a regular basis??
>>
Medfag here

MDMA does not cause a deviated septum

I've only done it twice. Good times. It doesn't make you an idiot (see Professor Nutt's papers on it). It has an interesting history, and generally appears to be relatively safe compared to other drugs
But for fuck sake, don't do it regularly
>>
>>17209162
im an idiot

>>17209169
why has it become deviated now? i knew i took too much that night... and i've been ill (probably sinus infections) since. i think it had some effect at least. im not sure if i should go to the doctors and get the surgery because its not bothering me a lot and i'm not going to hurt my nose anymore. will the sinus problems leave or will i have a stuffy nose forever?
>>
>>17209155
having this deviated septum has put me off drugs for now desu. maybe i'll get used to it but im not sure... i don't think i should take mdma pills anymore either because my sinuses are really bad.
>>
>>17209185
Haha you're not going to be offered surgery in a hurry, so get that out of your mind

There's a normal bodily function (forgot the name of it - it's largely unimportant and I'm no ENT specialist) that alternates the nostril that it's easier to breath through. To most this isn't noticed. To others, they dwell on it so much that they get a referral to ENT, who then laugh them away

Judging by
>my nose still seems to be partially blocked but it isnt noticeable if i dont focus on it
this is the issue with you

Of course you won't accept this though. No one does. But it's likely. You said it thinking it means nothing, but doctors will pick up on these things and (usually) come to the right conclusion from it
>>
>>17209217
Sorry, I should elaborate

>why haven't I ever noticed this before then??
Because you're worrying about it more now. It was probably caused by your sinusitis initially, but you worried about MDMA causing it so much, that it's now there all the time

And yes, psychological issues can feel very real. I've seen people in wheelchairs because of psychological issues
>>
>>17209218
so, it's not causing me bad breathing problems (im able to sleep at night) and if i close my left nostril and inhale with my right, i can somehow inhale even though it's kind of blocked. basically i don't need to waste doctors time as it's not causing me extreme hassle? also overuse of mdma (some coke), do you think its helped my nose become deviated or is this all in my head?

thank you for helping me anyway. :)
>>
>>17209239
The only benefit you'll get by going to the doctor is that you've then got the issue recorded, and if it's not gone in six months, then you're more likely to be referred on (talking from an NHS, UKfag perspective)

The fact that it doesn't cause you sleep issues is reassuring. If it's *always* the same nostril, that's slightly more of a reason to refer on, but probably doesn't change a lot

And with regards to overuse of MDMA and cocaine, you have to distinguish between whether it's a deviated septum causing this issue, or something else.
If it's a deviated septum, then you have to go on and ask is this because of drug use? And no, it's incredibly unlikely. It may very well be that you've always had one but it's only becoming an issue now, but that still doesn't mean drugs caused it

Is it caused by something other than a deviated septum? This is more likely
But again, you asked if drugs caused your nose to become deviated, but the real question is did drugs cause your nose to become harder to breath out of through one nostril... And the answer to the latter is, that may very well be the case

Take decongestants. Use them for 5+ days and that blocked nose will come back with vengeance. They work via the alpha-receptor, and work there relatively weakly. 5 days of blasting it and your nose essentially becomes used to it and all hell breaks loose when you stop it

Cocaine (more than MDMA) acts on the same receptor (and other related ones) even more potently, and will cause the same issue, but worse. So that may be contributing

And I'll stop there because I'm drunk and getting too excited about blood vessels and their receptors

thank you for the reply. as i've said i only really noticed it after my bad flu which lasted for a few weeks after that night of taking too much. that's how i came to the conclusion that mdma has done it. sometimes, but not regularly, i have a blocked left nostril (the 'good' one) but thats only for a short period. i think drugs has caused me to have sinus issues for the past month but i'm not going to waste the doctors time (im from UK too) and hopefully i become used to this now. i'm going to stop abusing my nose.
as long as i don't have a perforated septum and my nose doesn't collapse, ill be fine.

oh and just one more question-
im not taking mdma pills any time soon, but if i did, will it make my sinuses much worse?
>>
>>17209321
Glad to be of help

And no, not directly. If it did, it would only be due to general body fatigue for the few days following
>>
>>17209331
Thank you. Just to confirm - as long as i'm able to breathe out of my nose without discomfort, i don't need to see anyone for help. If my sinus problems continue for say the next 2 months, should I get help? Sorry I just want to be 100% certain to get this out of my head / overthinking it.
