Shit man, cops where I'm at start around 42k a year. I make less as dispatch, but I work a ton of piss easy overtime. Literally no requirements to promote besides time working and general knowledge. Sit around and play 3ds while I rack up time. Go for my boss' job in a couple of years. Then 5 after that, get his bosses job. 116k salary.
Compare that to breaking my back for a fortune 50 company for 55k a year, think long term I made the correct decision.
