hey /adv/ I need some help calming my friend down.

Long story short, hes getting married soon and his fiancee is going to New York for a bachelorette weekend to see some Broadway shows and stuff. Long story short, my best friend (im his best man) is freaking himself out because he is paranoid about his bride to be cheating on him or something like that. I keep telling him that all the shit he hears about bachelorette parties (male strippers, brides cheating etc etc) isn't true, and even if it is, its not his fiances scene (Shes shy, hides in books, has bad anxiety, artsy etc).

Whats the best way to calm him down? Do bacholerette parties always evolve male strippers and shit or whats the deal? I've got no experience in this field so any tips would be appreciated.

Yes, they always do. No need to tell him that though. Ignorance is a blessing sometimes.

Oh, we get it OP: YOU are your "friend", and anxious about your gfs party. Don't be. It'll all be alright.

You got me LOL!

My next question, and this is a big one. Do you think i should go through with the marriage? Like, if i have trust issues this badly PRIOR to marriage then am I making a mistake

Maybe. I do not know enough about your situation to judge this.

What you should do though, is TALK with your fiancee about those issues. A successful relationship is not only built on trust, but as well communication.

Btw, and a bit off topic: Did you prepare a prenup? If not, do so.

I was bouncing back and forth on whether or not to do something like that. Better to have a safety net I suppose

yes.

Batchelorette parties often involve debauchery like this because they're not actually for the bride - this is a common misconception. They're organised by the brides friends FOR the brides friends. They're an excuse for a group of women to act like men for a night and pretend it's to celebrate their friends marriage. Your fiance's friends WILL hoe it up, but your fiancee won't.

You're friend is going to tie his life to someone who he can't trust on their own for 1 night? Haha haha I give the marriage a year unless he's a chuck, also the other guy is right. These parties are for the friends to hoe it up and drown their loneliness.

Pff, no, for mine we all played laser tag, then went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner and then to a casino to play slots for a bit. One of my friends went out for dinner and then to one of those pottery painting places for hers. My sister did dinner and then karaoke. If your fiancee isn't in to the bar scene, then it's unlikely that her bachelorette is going to be that debauched. especially if her girls are reserved too.
