I think 4chan has ruined my ability to get a job and integrate with society.

What do?
>>
Don't blame a website for your personal shortcomings
>>
>>17161549
It's the websites fucking fault

If this place wasn't so fucking despicable and amoral I wouldn't be in this position
>>
>>17161566
You sound like the kind of person who would sue Mcdonalds for making you fat.
>>
>>17161546

>millions of 4chan users have a job and integrate with society no problemo
>BUT I CANT THEREFORE IT IS 4CHANS FAULT AND NOT MY OWN

if we didn't succumb to it, you didnt need to either.
>>
>>17161566

4chan is the symptom not the cause.
>>
it's ok dude.
just stay here some more, it will eventually work out.

I promise.
>>
Quit the internet all together except for finding jobs
>>
>>17161546
Maybe 5 or 6 years ago...

4chan today is like a pre-school compared to the maximum security prison it was back then.

You millenials missed all the fun!
>>
>>17161578
No because I choose to eat McDonald's

Come on you fucking wankers you know exactly what I'm talking about. This place is addictive, it attracts lost young males, all looking for answers to life and some sort of companionship. But then the views expressed here are so... socially unacceptable. Once you get pulled in, what can you do? It just corrupts your mind

>>17161580

???

Like every day someone will post on /adv/ "I used to be normal, then 4chan has made me racist and hate women, what do?"

And you think I'm the first person to experience this?

And having a job doesn't count, I've been coming to this place for 8 years and have had four different jobs over that period, but this place just sucks you in, it gives you a sense of having friends but you don't, and it twists your mind by feeding you with racist, sexist, offensive opinions
>>
>>17161606

>but i didnt choose to go on 4chan

>>17161606

>everyday someone will post that 4chan changed them.

im ont saying you are the first person, but you cannot blame a website for your functions. you choose to come here. you choose to listen to those arguments, you choose to believe them.

4chan didnt turn anyone racist. they had the power to be racist, and went with it.

>it gives you a sense of having friends but you dont.

it gives YOU that. plenty of us have friends mate.

its fed me the same racist, sexist and offensive opinions it did you, but im still not racist, sexist, or offensive. i have my morals and i stuck with them. i get told to go back to tumblr every day for it, but 4chan isnt forcing me to do anything.

stop blaming 4chan. get off of 4chan.
>>
>>17161566
You're in denial.
>>
>>17161606
Did someone force you to go on 4chan? Wtf
>>
>>17161617
>you choose to listen to those arguments, you choose to believe them.
How can you fucking avoid them?

Are you honestly saying that you haven't been changed, become more cynical, become more bitter, because of 4chan? Thing is I don't believe that for a second because literally EVERY SINGLE poster these days is right-wing. It used to be, not too long ago, you'd get people piping up and saying "well I'm not racist", etc. I used to do that too but then it seems the mindset of 4chan has shifted the last year or so, it's become more and more angry at PC left-wing culture, I guess it coincides with the rise of Trump.

And I've been persuaded by the hate towards PC culture I guess. I used to be against sexism, now I think "sexism" is ridiculous. But now I don't know how I can even interact with any workplace anymore because I know that the left-wing viewpoint is so fashionable these days and people think you're Hitler if you don't follow it

>>17161655
No u
>>
Look I'm just pointing out an INCREDIBLY COMMON EFFECT that loads of people on 4chan have talked about

And I'm asking how you lot deal with it. "Hurr durr I'm actually really normal", yeah that's some nice memeing there, but we all know that 4chan has an effect on your brain just like anything else, so I'm asking how you personally deal with it.
>>
Change your 4chan addiction to something less destructive. Like a self-help subreddit which probably exists.
>>
>>17161676

>how can you fucking avoid them

listen as in you choose to take them to heart. if you are saying its impossible not to see their point then you were always racist and sexist, you just didnt realize it.

htat being said, you can just log off.

i have changed. we change based on everything we are introduced to. im much less PC. i no longer get upset if someone calls me a faggot, and i dont think the world is as black and white as childhood made it seem.

but im not racist, sexist, etc.
>>
>>17161595

>you millennials

How old are you, dad?
>>
>>17161695
I started going on 4chan /b/ when I was 12 years old. It did change me and I became asocial and addicted to hardcore pornography and I even started search for CP during the years following this, and came across content that I was surely not supposed to see so young, or at all for that matter. I quit 4chan at 15yo and started to go elsewhere on the internet also started living IRL. Now, 10 years after encountering this website for the first time, am coming back to it only to fap in /gif/ and wander. But I've built myself elsewhere and I am not influenced by the opinions of people I find degenerated.
>>
>>17161701
Everybody is racist and sexist mate, the only reason you hold it back is because it gets you a girl or it gets you a job. Those qualities will emerge out of anyone under the right circumstances

>>17161729
I find this a difficult argument to buy, because if you were really so different, why would you be coming back to 4chan at all
>>
>>17161695

Get off 4chan. That's it. Don't click the bookmark. Don't search for it. Just stop. It's a psychological addiction not a physical one, meaning your body will survive without it, you just have to convince yourself to do it.

This website is a Skinner box with constantly fresh material. You need to find something else to stave off boredom. A hobby, working out, a new TV show, literally anything. The only reason you come to this site is because you're bored.
>>
>>17161606
>No because I choose to eat McDonald's
You also chose to get on 4chan and continue to come back.
>Come on you fucking wankers you know exactly what I'm talking about. This place is addictive, it attracts lost young males, all looking for answers to life and some sort of companionship. But then the views expressed here are so... socially unacceptable. Once you get pulled in, what can you do? It just corrupts your mind
Now THIS is what I call a victim complex.
>>
>>17161764
I don't have a bookmark, I just type it out. On my Swype keyboard on my iPhone I just have to type "b" and the first suggestion is "boards.4chan.org"

>>17161768
Yes i choose to come to 4chan but I am just asking HOW DO YOU GUYS DEAL WITH IT

How do you deal with it personally?

Have you ever told your friends / co-workers that you go on 4chan? What do they say?

Have you ever disagreed with someone who had a left-wing, normie opinion? Maybe you said "SJWs are everywhere" or something like that, and if so, what did they say?

That's what I'm wondering
>>
>>17161546
If you really want to avoid it, get yourself banned.
>>
>>17161729
>>17161743
Haha you're right. But I guess I don't get sucked into it as much as I used to. Except for the fapping material in gif. That's kinda like a blackhole I fall into. And I don't go to /b/. I don't feel the same misanthropic hatred for human kind as I used to feel from getting here. I guess it all comes from how easily influenced we are.
>>
>>17161803
You talk about 4chan like it's a hard drug that you've formed a chemical dependency on. Get the fuck over yourself, and maybe learn to have enough personal integrity to form your own opinions rather than literally allowing groupthink on an anonymous image board to tell you what to believe.

I've been browsing 4chan on a daily basis since I was like sixteen. I'm currently twenty-seven, I hold two college degrees, I'm happily married, and I support myself and my wife at a job I enjoy. Life isn't a struggle for you because you browse 4chan; it's a struggle because you're a fucking moron.
>>
>>17161546
Your life was already shit before you came here.
>>
>>17161809
It's too addictive man. But maybe you're right, maybe I have to. But I just think I would then spend my entire time looking for a proxy or a way around the ban (or I could just reset my router and get a new IP in a couple of days)

>>17161821
I also don't go on /b/ anymore because there's so much disgusting shit there (and also because when you're 25 like I now am, it becomes painfully obvious how young the average /b/tard is). But still, the /pol/-tier mindset is still to be found everywhere, even on all the boards I go to most like /sp/, /g/, /tv/, /v/ and /mu/

>>17161858
I'm just wondering mate, HOW to reconcile 4chan with normal life. Does your wife know you browse 4chan for instance? I told my friends I go on 4chan but they all think I'm a fucking weirdo for it because they all know the reputation for this place. They go on Reddit, because that's a lot more socially acceptable. But they won't touch 4chan

>>17161872
True
>>
>>17162026

What are you getting from 4chan that you aren't from anywhere else?

That's seems like a simple enough a place to start your road to recovery.
>>
Look bud, I'm 18 years old and my life is perfectly fine. I have plenty of close friends and I've been accepted to Waterloo for Software Engineering and Computer Science. I hope you fucking realize that most of the shit here is satire right?

It's true that 4chan's sense of humour is a bit twisted, but you know what the solution is? Either keep that shit to yourself, or find respectable friends who like that kind of humour. Stop blaming the site; if the site causes people to fail, why haven't I failed?
>>
>>17162092
Companionship probably. I've been coming to 4chan since I was 18, maybe a bit younger on and off, and I'm now 25. I had friends at home before I went to uni (at 19) but our house was remote so I was 15 miles away from all of them. Then at uni I tried to make friends but never found a group really, and uni is definitely when I ramped up 4chan usage. Then in the last job I had for 18 months, I was still using 4chan. Had to move around the country twice for the job and I'm socially retarded so didn't really make friends

Yeah maybe I should just make friends

I'm just wondering though, how you guys integrate 4chan usage with real life. Do you tell your friends you use 4chan? What do they think?

>>17162116
>most of the shit here is satire right?
You're joking right?

Well I guess you're 18 so perhaps it seems that way to you, especially if you're a normie

Spend more than a couple of hours on /pol/ and then tell me it's all satire
>>
>>17161546
Yeah, I've only been using this site for a year and I already failed almost all of my classes the past 2 semesters, got attatched to a girl (long distance) that I'll probably never meet, lost all motivation to do anything, and lost all my friends.

Its a bad place.
>>
>>17161546
Why the hell would someone became racist from browsing 4chan? Do you really belive those pseudo-articles /pol/ keep shoving in our faces?
Also you don't need to be a feminist to not be sexist. As long as you respect and treat woman like you would do with any man I don't think society would have something against you (unless you are one of those purityfags who thinks girls are supposed to stay at home or some other shit).

I do agree that 4chan changes people. I was a part of the first years of tumblr and the feminist movement, and now that I got over that phase (and changed opinions) I find it way harder to socialize. The jokes and lingo we get from here are not acceptable irl and even the subjects of discussion can be a problem now.
>>
>>17162153
Well, initially it really wasn't a big deal for me so I never really told anyone.
After a while I commented on it with a friend and he was all "what are you doing? Get ou of that place, it's human scum", and I didn't really cared from his saying but once when my mom visited me she saw it on recommendations and got really upset over it because it's "antisocial and home for gay people".
Huh, I wish I could see her reaction to /pol/.
Ever since then it's a secret, though sometimes I trow some 4chan lingo in conversations to see if anyone around me uses it too.
>>
>>17161546
Even tripfags have jobs and children. What the fuck are you doing?
