Is it harder for a Chinese toddler to become fluent in English or a monolingual American adult to become fluent in Spanish?

The Chinese toddler will easily learn multiple languages. Much easier than an English speaker learning another language.

Little kids are sponges for languages, the kid should pick up a new language a lot faster than an adult
By and large, no.
Our brains are wired to learn language skills when we are kids and this diminishes as we age. That's why it is better to learn other languages from a young age.
