So last week my girlfriend broke up with me. I've been taking it well but sometimes I get waves of sadness. We ended on good terms and we are willing to be friends but just not right now. But this saturday I am catching up with one of her friends. Is this a good idea?

Not op, but so what if it starts drama? They aren't together. She broke up with him. He has no obligation to her anymore. I don't think there's anything wrong it it.
To OP: Don't bother with "friends" with exs. They aren't friends. They never will be. This is something you learn as you get older. About the only time it's acceptable and actually worthwhile being friends with exs is when you have a kid with them. It's better to cut them out of your life completely, as too many issues arise from keeping them in your life.
